He added that he was obliged to niggle the horse throughout the event to remain in touch with the main body of the field and the horse commenced to improve approaching the 400m. He further added that he was obliged to alter course near the 200m to obtain clear running and felt that the horse was doing its best work over the concluding stages and he was of the opinion that a step up in distance would be beneficial
