Race 1: RAELENE BOYLE OUTREACH PROGRAM BENCHMARK 75 HANDICAP – 2200M

URBAN RULER – Proved very difficult to settle in the middle stages.

FIGHTING TEO – Raced three wide without cover in the early stages.

SIR BARNABUS – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Bumped on a couple of occasions near the 1000m.

CORAL COAST – Momentarily steadied off the heels of FIGHTING TEO near the 1100m when that runner shifted in. Made contact with SIR BARNABUS on a couple of occasions near the 1000m when attempting to come to the outside of FIGHTING TEO. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be showing poor recovery.

OAKFIELD MONARCH – Lost the near fore plate in running.

METEOROLOGIST – The rider dropped his nearside rein near the 500m, which he regained shortly thereafter. J. Orman was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.

ALLCASH – Disappointed for a clear run near the 200m when racing between DUKE OF CHRISTOPHE and FIGHTING TEO, which was carried outwards slightly by URBAN RULER.

DUKE OF CHRISTOPHE – Slow to begin.

IT AIN’T ALL HONEY – Slow into stride. Had to be steadied off the heels of ALLCASH when racing keenly near the 1400m.

Race 2: HOPPY'S HANDWASH CAFE OPEN HANDICAP – 1835M

LE JUGE – Laid inwards in the straight.

MASTER ZEPHYR – Laid outwards in the early stages.

MAZAZ – Raced three wide throughout.

VELADERO – Connections advised that the horse would be ridden in a forward position if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly.

CHILLIN WITH DYLAN – Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the straight.

DECONSTRUCTED – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, apprentice J. Murphy stated he was instructed to settle in the second half of the field and attempt to secure clear running to the outside rounding the home turn. He said that passing the 500m he attempted to improve on the back of LE JUGE but was left flat-footed, following which GOLD AMBITION improved to his inside and shifted out, resulting in his mount being held up for a short distance, and he was then obliged to shift to the outside to secure clear running and his mount finished the race off well.

GOLD AMBITION – The saddle required adjustment behind the barriers. Slow into stride.

Race 3: CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL FOUNDATION CLASS 6 PLATE – 1600M

MONACO PLAYBOY – Underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers at the request of the rider and was cleared to start. Proved difficult to settle in the early and middle stages. Held up and unable to improve between the 500m and the 400m.

IMPASSE – Made contact with SHOGUN SUN on a couple of occasions near the 50m when attempting to come to the outside of LOTA CREEK GOLD. M. Cahill was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.

SHOGUN SUN – Bumped on a couple of occasions near the 500m.

MYMMING – Bumped with RED COLOUR at the start. Crowded shortly after the start between RED COLOUR and MONACO PLAYBOY.

RED COLOUR – Bumped with MYMMING at the start.

Race 4: SPORTING CHANCE CANCER FOUNDATION 3YO QUALITY – 1300M

ROSENDAHL RED – Bumped with CRAFTY SPIRIT on jumping.

VIRAL – Raced three wide without cover.

CRAFTY SPIRIT – Bumped with ROSENDAHL RED on jumping. Raced keenly in the early stages.

DREAMREACHER – Slow into stride after beginning awkwardly. R. Maloney was fined $100 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.

VERANES – Had to be eased approaching the 300m when awkwardly placed on the heels of VIRAL.

SNICKI MINAJ – Had to be eased off the heels of OUR ECHO near the 400m when that runner shifted out. S. Cormack, the rider of OUR ECHO, was issued with a reprimand and advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in future.

CHIKORITA – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Held up and unable to improve between the 550m and the 450m. Bumped when OUR ECHO shifted out near the 300m.

MILLION – Raced wide throughout.

Race 5: TAB DALRELLO STAKES – 1000M

The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow B. Stewart, the rider of 6th placegetter GARIBALDI, to view the stewards’ patrol footage to determine whether he had grounds on which to lodge an objection against 5th placegetter DEVIL’S TEMPTATION. After viewing the videos, jockey Stewart indicated that he did not wish to proceed.

GARIBALDI – Bumped inwards shortly after the start and became awkwardly placed on the heels of YITAI SYNERGY. Checked near the 600m when DEVIL’S TEMPTATION shifted in. R. Maloney, the rider of DEVIL’S TEMPTATION, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that at that point he permitted his mount to shift inwards. Jockey Maloney’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 8 days, to commence at midnight on Monday 6 May and expire at midnight on Tuesday 14 May 2019. In determining penalty, stewards took into account jockey Maloney’s good record, his plea of guilt, the degree of carelessness being in the low range, as well as the race being a listed event. Held up and unable to improve between the 500m and the 400m.

DEVIL’S TEMPTATION – Jumped awkwardly inwards, making contact with EURO BELLE.

DEEP SEA – Bumped and carried wider making the turn into the straight.

JAGGED EDGE – Raced three wide without cover.

REEF BUG – Crowded for room and checked near the 400m when racing between DEEP SEA and EURO BELLE, which shifted outwards. M. McGillivray, the rider of EURO BELLE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that at that point he permitted his mount to shift out. Jockey McGillivray’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 8 days, to commence at midnight on Monday 6 May and expire at midnight on Tuesday 14 May 2019. In determining penalty, stewards took into account jockey McGillivray’s good record, his plea of guilt and the degree of interference.

MAGIC DESERT MOON – Restless in the barriers, jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin.

ENCIEH – Jockey M. Du Plessis stated that after being placed under pressure in the early part of the straight his mount commenced to give ground and he eased the filly down over the concluding stages.

EURO BELLE – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground when crowded on jumping.

CABALO ESCURO – Momentarily crowded approaching the 500m to the inside of OH FIVE GLORY, which shifted in. Held up and unable to improve between the 500m and the 400m.

Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to GOOD 3.

Race 6: MCCARTHY HOMES BENCHMARK 75 HANDICAP – 1400M

HAPPY GO PLUCKY – Trainer J. Gilmore advised that the intention would be to have the gelding ridden forward and settle just off the pace. Settled midfield after runners to the outside pressed forward to obtain a position closer to the fence.

LE DUDE – Bumped with GO DIXIE on a couple of occasions shortly after the start. Raced three wide with cover.

MISHANI PHOENIX – Had to be eased off the heels of CANBERRA near the 900m.

CRUZE – Connections advised that, from the wide alley, the gelding would be ridden further back in the field. The horse was ridden accordingly, settling at the rear of the field three wide with cover. Eased off the heels of GO DIXIE near the 1200m when that runner was steadied whilst racing to the inside of FRANCISCA.

GO DIXIE – Bumped with LE DUDE on a couple of occasions shortly after the start. Raced three wide without cover in the early stages.

OUR MANTRA – Held up for clear running in the early part of the straight.

REAL EGO – Raced three wide with cover.

CANBERRA – Eased near the 900m when racing to the inside of FRANCISCA, which shifted in. R. Stewart, the rider of FRANCISCA, was issued with a reprimand and advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in future.

ANGEL DANE – Proved difficult to settle in the early stages. Raced three wide with cover.

WHODUNNIT – Jumped away awkwardly. Proved difficult to settle in the early stages. Eased when racing in restricted room over the concluding stages.

THE EQUALIZER – Slow to begin.

Race 7: ENERGY AIR BENCHMARK 75 HANDICAP – 1400M

Trainer C. Anderson was fined $200 for failing to declare apprentice S. Lacy as the rider of BRYNEICH by the prescribed time.

The start of this race was delayed when AKAGE refused to proceed to the barriers in a timely manner. Trainer B. Crowley was advised that the mare must trial prior to its next start.

BRYNEICH – Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the straight.

DANZIE – Raced four wide throughout.

LAND OFFICE – Bumped with DYNASTIC on a couple of occasions shortly after passing the 200m.

SO SPIRITED – Raced three wide with cover throughout.

I AM IMPINGE – Crowded on jumping. Raced keenly in the early stages. Disappointed for clear running near the 150m.

BENICO’S PRINCE – Jumped away awkwardly.

DYNASTIC – Bumped with LAND OFFICE on a couple of occasions shortly after passing the 200m.

NEW HORIZONS – When questioned regarding the horse’s performance, T. Harrison expressed her disappointment in the gelding’s failure to let down as expected when asked to improve leaving the 400m. Jockey Harrison was of the view that the gelding may not have appreciated today’s track conditions and noted that it has performed best when its runs have been further spaced. Stable representative Mr A. Kermond explained that the gelding may not have appreciated the short back-up from last start. He said the horse had worked well leading into today’s event ant it may be the stable’s intention to freshen the horse up, space its runs as has occurred previously, and restrict the horse to races of distances shorter than that of today’s event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

AKAGE – Crowded on jumping.

INTRINSIC – Raced wide throughout.

SEAHAMPTON – Jumped away awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

Race 8: FUJITSU GENERAL GUNSYND CLASSIC – 1600M

A MAN TO MATCH – Slow into stride.

NAPOLEON SOLO – Steadied passing the 600m when racing tight to the inside of TOLEMAC.

LOVE STRUCK – Raced wide without cover throughout.

AXELLA – Proved difficult to settle in the early stages and had to be steadied off the heels of GEM SONG near the 1400m.

Race 9: TAB VICTORY STAKES – 1200M

REDZEL – Momentarily steadied off the heels of FIERY HEIGHTS near the 1000m.

I AM EXCITED – Crowded on jumping.

JONKER – Slow to begin. Lost ground after being crowded shortly after the start.

STELLA VICTORIA – Steadied off the heels of I’M A RIPPA near the 1100m.

Race 10: METRICON CLASS 6 PLATE – 1200M

CADOGAN – Eased when crowded to the outside of COOL SEQUENCE shortly after the start.

COURTZA KING – Raced wide.

FREDDIE FOX TROT – Blundered on jumping. Carried outwards near the 400m by WILD ‘N’ FAMOUS, which shifted out when tiring after being brushed by CHAPTER AND VERSE.

WILD ‘N’ FAMOUS – Shifted out when tiring near the 400m after being brushed by CHAPTER AND VERSE.

BRING IT HOME POP – Raced three wide without cover throughout.

THE FIRE TRAP – Crowded and lost ground shortly after the start. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the straight.

RIVER RACER – Had to be checked outwards near the 400m when awkwardly placed on the heels of FREDDIE FOX TROT, which was carried out when WILD ‘N’ FAMOUS shifted out when tiring after being brushed by CHAPTER AND VERSE.

COOL SEQUENCE – Hung outwards in the straight, placing its rider at a disadvantage.

COOL MOVER – Hampered shortly after the start.
