Race 1: Underground Plumbing Class 3 H’Cap – 900m
1st – Lady Schiller 2nd – Casinomac 3rd – Twisted Mountain 4th – Pezenas

AQUATOR – Slow to begin.

PEZENAS – Slow to begin.

LADY SCHILLER – Approaching the 200m was momentarily held up for clear running.

POCILLO – Raced wide throughout. Jockey T. Treichel reported upon return to scale that the mare put in an awkward stride leaving the 100m, at which point he became concerned with its action and as such did not ride it out with his usual vigour. A post race veterinary examination of the mare failed to reveal any abnormality.


Race 2: Stihl Shop Burleigh QTIS 3YO H’Cap – 1300m
1st – Amata 2nd – Fire Within 3rd – Teranaba Grey 4th – Two Round Men

BERGDORF - Declared a late scratching at 11.50 a.m. by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice after the filly was injured enroute to the course. The stable representative was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the filly racing again.

COURT THE GEISHA – Upon arrival on course trainer L. Birchley sought permission for the filly to race bare behind. Stewards were advised that the filly pulled a hind shoe this morning and was unable to be replated and as such exceeded to Mr Birchley’s request. Jockey N. Day dropped his whip near the 150m. Jockey Day reported that despite travelling comfortably during the early and middle stages the filly failed to sprint in today’s heavy conditions.

FIRE WITHIN – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Bumped near the 300m. Inclined to lay in for the majority of the home straight.

AMATA – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Bumped near the 300m.

Race 3: CH Security & Bamberry Lawyers QTIS 2YO Class 1 H’Cap – 1400m
1st – All Get Clanged 2nd – World Class 3rd – Elemental Boy 4th – Late of Payment

MINISTRY OF FEAR – Slow to begin. Hung in for the majority of the home straight. Over the concluding stages was disappointed for clear running between ELEMENTAL BOY and LATE PAYMENT, which shifted out under pressure. N. Day (LATE PAYMENT) was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

ELEMENTAL BOY – Overraced in the early stages.

LATE PAYMENT – Hung in in the early stages of the home straight.

WORLD CLASS – Held up for a short distance passing the 200m.

FAINT BLAZE – Jockey C. Whiteley reported that the 59 kilo impost had a detrimental affect on the filly’s performance, bearing in mind the heavy track conditions.


Race 4: Hutchinson Builders Maiden Plate – 1200m
1st – Generate 2nd – Classroom Destiny 3rd – Revelio 4th – Myboycellito

WINDY EVENING – Stewards accepted the explanation of trainer B. Guy for the late declaration of L. Rolls as the rider. Bumped by MYBOYCELLITO approaching the 600m.

MY SHANIA – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped CLASSROOM DESTINY.

CLASSROOM DESTINY – Bumped on jumping away.

ERRANDS – Began awkwardly.

MYBOYCELLITO – Slow to begin.

TRE BROWN – Overraced in the early stages and could not be restrained despite the efforts of its rider. Bumped GENERATE leaving the 500m and became unbalanced. Jockey J. Morris was reprimanded for using his whip when out of contention.

LUCKY PARTNER – Near the 900m had to be steadied when tightened for room between ERRANDS and HIDRIFTER, both of which shifted ground. Jockey K. Yoshida reported upon returning to scale that he became concerned with the filly’s action leaving the 600m and as a result eased it out of the race. A post race veterinary examination of the filly revealed no significant abnormalities.

GENERATE – Obliged to race in restricted room to the inside of TRE BROWN leaving the 500m and as a result was bumped by that runner.

REVELIO – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

Race 5: Live Vision Class 2 H’Cap – 1200m
1st – Best Dance Yet 2nd – Neomagic 3rd – Top Royal 4th – Regal Trader

HOTEL DRIVE – Began awkwardly.

TOP ROYAL – Near the 1100m was checked when tightened for room between HOTEL DRIVE and CINNABOLDA.

CHOPHOUSE TEARS – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.

REGAL TRADER – Bumped by CHOPHOUSE TEARS near the 100m.

App S. Eilbeck the rider of CINNABOLDA pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that near the 1100m she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of TOP ROYAL, which had to be checked and lost ground. App Eilbeck’s licence to ride in races for a period of 6 meetings to commence midnight 2 August 2015 and expire midnight 15 August 2015.

AROUND THE MOON – Jockey T. Treichel reported the gelding failed to handle the prevailing track conditions. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.

Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Heavy 9.

Race 6: Lindores Constructions Ratings Band 0-65 H’Cap – 1800m
1st – Floral Nomad 2nd – Would Be A Bonus 3rd – Halo Shine 4th – Kirchner

KIRCHNER – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages and was allowed to stride forward outside the leader near the 1100m.

HALO SHINE – Overraced rounding the first turn near the 1400m.

STUBOY – Obliged to race in restricted room passing the 400m.
Race 7: Burleigh Boardriders Class 1 H’Cap – 1400m
1st – Flying Lucky 2nd – Leroy’s Luck 3rd – Bukekayo 4th – Legal Counsel

OUR SONGBIRD – Leaving the 1100m shifted in, made contact with the running rail and became unbalanced.

FLYING LUCKY – Passing the 600m was bumped by another runner and had to be steadied. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight until a point leaving the 200m.

BETTERTHANYOUTHINK – When questioned as to the tactics adopted jockey J. Morris stated that from the awkward barrier today he endeavoured to obtain cover as the gelding had overraced at its previous starts. Jockey Morris added that he was able to obtain a midfield position on the rail. Jockey Morris further added that rounding the home turn he attempted to shift out to obtain clear running but was held up in the early stages of the home straight at which point he elected to shift in to secure clear running, which resulted in him being held up again between the 200m and 100m. Trainer S. Morrisey confirmed the instructions and noted that the gelding at its 2 previous starts was obliged to race closer to the speed than anticipated as a result of drawing wide barriers.


Race 8: Lanikai On Brighton BenchMark 75 H’Cap – 1400m
1st – Doughty 2nd – Tuned In 3rd – Moonlight Nova 4th – Hydrazine

KEREDARI – Stood flatfooted as the start was effected and lost ground.

GAME THIEF – Slow to begin. When questioned as to the performance jockey C. Whiteley was unable to explain the disappointing performance except to say the gelding may have failed to handle the heavy track conditions. Trainer T. Edmonds was also at a loss to explain the performance and undertook to report back to stewards anything that may come to light in the days subsequent to the race.
