GENERAL
 
All whip offences at today’s meeting were issued under the provisions of the revised whip template that came into effect April 1st, 2022.
 
Apprentice S. Tomlinson was fined $800 under AR143(14)(a) for failing to claim his full allowance on five of his engagements.
 
Race 1: REES R & SYDNEY JONES SOLICITORS QTIS Three-Year-Old Class 1 Handicap 1050 metres
 
BOOM TIME BABY – Shortly after jumping, was carried in by BETTER THAN BAMS which shifted in abruptly. Approaching the 900m, was carried in further and placed in restricted room by BETTER THAN BAMS and had to check off heels, losing ground. Jockey R. Wiggins was found guilty of a charge under AR131(a) in that he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficient clear, causing TYCOON FURY to check and placing BOOM TIME BABY in restricted racing room and checking to avoid heels. Jockey Wiggins’ license was suspended for a period of 11 days, to commence midnight the 10/04/2022 to midnight the 21/04/2022. When determining penalty, stewards took into account Jockey Wiggins’ good record. When attempting to obtain clear running passing the 600m, shifted out making contact with TYCOON FURY on multiple occasions.
 
TYCOON FURY – Was fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. Jumped away awkwardly. Had to steady to avoid the heels of BOOM TIME BABY which was carried in by BETTER THAN BAMS which shifted in.  Raced wide throughout without cover.
 
BETTER THAN BAMS – Shortly after jumping, shifted in, forcing BOOM TIME BABY in onto TYCOON FURY which had to check and steady. Approaching the 900m, continued to shift in, placing BOOM TIME BABY in restricted room.Tailed off in the home straight, taking no further competitive part in the event.
 
 
Race 2: HAMILTON CQ PAINTING SERVICES Maiden Handicap 1050 metres
 
POLICE (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
MISS PIPER – Jumped away awkwardly, with its head in the air. Approaching the 600m, shifted out abruptly carrying NIKSICKO wider.
 
GOODY GOODY – When questioned regarding GOODY GOODY’S performance, Apprentice Jockey S. Tomlinson advised stewards that the mare felt very awkward in its action throughout the event. He also advised that during the running of the event, his saddle had shifted slightly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have lost its front right plate in running.
 
MAYHEM GIRL – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
NIKSICKO – Jumped away awkwardly. Approaching the 600m, was forced wider when MISS PIPER shifted out abruptly. Approaching the 500m, improved onto the heels of MISS PIPER and had to steady.
 
 
Race 3: SMW GROUP Class 5 Handicap 1200 metres
 
MISS SILKY – Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
JUST JESSIE – Jumped away awkwardly, losing ground. Apprentice Jockey S. Tomlinson was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip 7 times prior to the 100m, 2 more than permitted under the respective rule. When determining penalty, stewards took into account this was Apprentice Tomlinson’s 3rd breach of using the whip 7 times prior to the 100m in the previous 6 months, under the revised whip template.
 
ORNATE – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Was held up for a short distance passing the 300m, before shifting in at the 200m to obtain clear running.
 
 
Race 4: WILPEENA CATTLE CO Class 6 Plate 1600 metres
 
WHAT A THOUGHT – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after becoming fractious prior to the event, and as a result made contact with the enclosures fencing and was passed fit to start. Jumped away awkwardly, losing ground at the start.
 
SHARINDI – Raced keenly with its head in the air in the early stages. Weakened passing the 600m and as a result, took no further competitive part in the event.
 
 
Race 5: CITY PRINTING WORKS Class 3 Plate 1050 metres
 
MATADOR – Was fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. Bumped with ADDRESS UNKNOWN on jumping. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. 
 
LE FIGARO – Jumped away awkwardly, making contact with MARTO. Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
MARTO – Jumped away awkwardly, making contact with LE FIGARO. Overraced in the middle stages.
 
ADDRESS UNKNOWN – Bumped on jumping by MATADOR. Upon returning to scale, Apprentice Jockey S. Tomlinson stated that ADDRESS UNKNOWN inclined to hung out throughout the event.
 
 
Race 6: HYGAIN MITAVITE CYS SUNDAY APRIL Class 3 Handicap 1500 metres
 
ANGOLA MISS – Stood flat footed at the start and lost considerable ground. Trainer T. Smith was advised that ANGOLA MISS would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to its next future race start.
 
 
Race 7: DLV FINANCE 2YO CLASSIC RACEDAY SATURDAY 9 APRIL Class 1 Handicap 1300 metres
 
MARVELOCITY – Raced wide without cover throughout the event.
 
SETHLANS – Improved onto the heels and was forced to steady near the 900m.
 
MENSCHKEIT – Jumped away awkwardly.Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Upon returning to scale, Apprentice Jockey S. Tomlinson reported that the gelding felt awkward in its action in the straight. A post-race veterinary clearance failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
CHICO – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

 
Race 8: RUM CITY FOODS CALCUTTA RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1100 metres
 
HINVICTUS – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout the event.
 
REDDISUN – Commenced to weaken passing the 300m, taking no further competitive part in the event. Upon returning to scale, Jockey A. Sewell reported that the gelding inclined to hung out throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

CHESTO'S DREAM – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid in when placed under pressure in the straight.

BOUND TO ME – Was tightened for room on jumping and as a result lost ground.
 
COUNTESS ROSTOVA – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
MISSY EM – Jumped away awkwardly.
