He indicated he had been instructed to settle just behind the pace if possible, however after the horse began well and after travelling a short distance it became apparent he would not be able to secure a position close to the fence and he allowed the horse to stride forward to the lead. These instructions were confirmed by stable representative Mr R. Zielke.

PATRONIZING - Stewards asked jockey D. Browne to comment on the performance of the horse. He stated his mount travelled well however when asked for en effort rounding the home turn it did not respond to his riding and proved disappointing.

BATTALION – Jockey G. Colless stated his mount did not begin well and did not travel comfortably at any stage of the race and was of the opinion the overall performance was disappointing. Trainer J. Shelton stated he was disappointed in the performance and in his opinion raced flat today. He advised he would monitor the horse’s progress and would report back to stewards in the coming days.

Race 7: Sunshine Coast Falcons Benchmark 85 H'cap – 1600m

Due to an impending storm, stewards advised Sky Channel and U-Bet that this event would be brought forward to a starting time of approximately 4.43 pm, however when the horses were en route to the barriers, weather conditions deteriorated rapidly and due to significant safety concerns, stewards made the decision to begin the race prior to this time and it began at approximately 4.39 pm.
