Slow to begin. J. Lloyd was questioned regarding his tactics on the gelding. He stated that, having its first for the stable, he had been instructed to ride the gelding quietly from its wide barrier and settled at the rear of the field, however he was disappointed with the way the gelding finished the race off, adding that it was inclined to lay in under pressure. Trainer T. Edmonds confirmed the instructions to ride the gelding quietly. Mr Edmonds was advised that should these instructions change, he would be expected to notify the stewards of a change of tactics.
