M. McGillivray reported that his mount never travelled well and that he had to ride the horse with vigour from the 500m. He added that it did not feel entirely comfortable in its action and for this reason he eased the horse down over the final 250m. A post-race veterinary examination that the gelding was showing signs of dehydration and had cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer D. Vandyke was advised that the horse must trial satisfactorily and that a veterinary clearance, including the results of an ECG, must be produced prior to the gelding being permitted to race again.
