Slow to begin. Stewards questioned apprentice Adam Spinks regarding his riding from a point near the 800m as to why he elected to shift out to a four wide position to improve. Apprentice Spinks stated that at that stage of the race near the 800m the pace of the race had steadied resulting in him becoming awkwardly placed at the heels of VENECIA. He felt that at that stage his mount was travelling strongly and therefore he elected to shift wider to allow his mount clear running to improve. Stewards noted his explanation.
