Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. Apprentice A. Fancourt reported that after suffering interference at the start she was obliged to settle further back than anticipated, however when the tempo increased from the 800m the gelding failed to quicken as anticipated and finished the race off only fairly. A. Fancourt was of the opinion that the gelding may not run out a strong mile. Trainer J. Zielke confirmed the stable was somewhat disappointed with the performance and felt it raced a little flat today and would look to start the horse over 1400m next start.

Lloyd attempted to ride forward to secure the lead passing the 1000m, however was unable to cross SILENT FLYER and then the rider elected to steady and attempted to position behind that runner, however was not clear to shift in at a point passing the 800m and was obliged to remain 3 wide without cover for the remainder of the event.
