Commenced to yield ground from the 400m and finished tailed off. Rider advised that, after commencing to give ground near the 400m his mount soon after felt short in its action, though he did not feel the gelding was sore, but rather exhibiting signs of a lack of fitness. As such, he did not place his mount under any undue pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Stewards intend to follow up with the trainer as to the geldings condition in the coming days.
