Forced wider by another runner near the 100m. Jockey N Callow reported that after settling in a rearward position due to the fast early tempo the field was stretched over a considerable distance, and therefore passing the 1300m he felt there was an opportunity to improve around the field to a midfield position without being caught wide. He went on to say that after commencing a move forward, the tempo of the event steadied resulting in the field compressing, and as a result the position he attempted to obtain was no longer available and as a consequence he was forced to race three wide
