Prior to the declaration of correct weight, stewards considered a request from co-trainer Mr T Button to have the colt declared a non-runner on the grounds of being denied a fair start. After reviewing the stewards patrol footage, stewards found that as the start was affected, the colt reared in the barriers, striking its head on the barrier partition and as a consequence, lost ground at the start. Stewards further determined that the actions of the barrier attendant assisting the colt in the barriers were inconsequential and if not for the colt’s own barrier manners.
