Had to be steadied near the 1200m, losing ground. Stewards inquired into the incident, evidence was taken from the riders in the vicinity and it was established that HOL’S SPRINGSTEEN shifted in and away from GOOD CATCH, which shifted in slightly away from MALCRIADO, which was racing in a 4 wide position at that stage. As stewards were not satisfied that the incident was a result of carelessness by any one of the riders, no action was taken.

Commenced to overrace at the heels of MALCRIADO approaching the 900m, shifted out and made contact with GOOD CATCH, then shifted back in towards the rail and had to be steadied from the heels of MALCRIADO. When questioned regarding the horse’s disappointing performance, apprentice H. English stated that the gelding raced greenly throughout and failed to handle the tight turning track. She added that the gelding never travelled comfortably at any stage and was most disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
