Right to Information Application
RQ is committed to giving the public access to information that it holds. Please ensure that you have read RQ’s Accessing Information page before making a Right to Information application as there may be a more efficient way to receive the information you are seeking.
As a member of the public, you have the right to:
- Apply for access to, or copies of, documents held by Racing Queensland. To do this complete and submit the Right to Information Access Application Form;
- Request access to, or copies of, documents that relate to your personal information and apply to have that information amended. To do this complete and submit the Right to Information Access Application Form;
- Apply to have your personal details amended. Under the Information Privacy Act, you may apply to amend documents containing personal information where you believe that the relevant information is inaccurate, misleading, out of date or incomplete. To do this complete and submit the Right to Information Personal Information Amendment Application.
You can make an application for access to documents or to amend your personal information by completing the Application Form and submitting a copy by email to [email protected] or via post to:

RQ will also accept access applications submitted to the above email address that meet the following criteria:
- Must be in writing
- Provide enough information to identify documents
- Provide an address for correspondence
- Provide evidence of identity (if applying for personal information)
- Provide evidence of authority (when making an application on behalf of a third party)
Fees and Charges
As of 1 July 2025, the Right to Information application fee is $57.65. This will increase to $59.60 from 1 July 2026.
A processing charge of $8.95 per 15 minutes (increasing to $9.25 on 1 July 2026) applies to all access applications that require more than 5 hours processing the application.
In the event that a processing charge applies to the application, RQ will provide you with a Charges Estimate Notice that details a breakdown of the costs associated with processing your application.
Timeframes
The Right to Information Act 2009 (Qld) requires that applications be processed within 25 business of receiving a valid application. Please note that this timeframe may be extended under various circumstances, including where third party consultation is required or the application has been transferred from another agency. We will communicate these timeframes to you upon our preliminary review of your application.
Review Rights
If you are not satisfied with RQ’s decision in relation to your application, you can:
- Apply for an Internal Review of the decision. You can do this by submitting your application in writing to RQ within 20 business days from the date you received the decision; or
- Apply for external review of the application to the Office of the Information Commissioner within 20 business days from the date you received the decision.
