AMELIA FITZGERALD

Queensland Off-The-Track proudly introduces Amelia Fitzgerald as a QOTT Acknowledged Retrainer.

Based in Nanango, in Queensland’s South Burnett region, Amelia is an Equestrian Australia accredited coach with more than 20 years’ riding experience across a diverse range of disciplines. Her competition and training journey has taken her from Maryborough to Melbourne, with experience in show jumping, dressage, eventing, campdrafting and team penning. This broad exposure has developed her into a well-rounded horsewoman with a strong understanding of horse and rider development across multiple disciplines.

Amelia’s approach to retraining is structured, consistent, and grounded in strong foundational work. Each horse begins its transition with a focus on groundwork, establishing manners, respect, and trust before progressing under saddle. Typically, horses spend three to four months in retraining, allowing Amelia time to understand their individual temperament, strengths, and preferences, and to determine the type of home and discipline they are best suited to.

A strong advocate for thoughtful and responsible rehoming, Amelia takes a personalised approach when matching horses with new owners. Careful consideration is given to each rider’s experience, goals, facilities, and overall suitability to ensure the best possible partnership for long-term success. Her commitment does not end at the point of sale, with ongoing support forming a key part of her process.

As an Approved Coach for the QOTT Subsidised Lessons Program, Amelia provides continued guidance to both horse and rider, helping to build confidence and support a smooth transition into their new partnership.
