Queensland Off-The-Track proudly introduces Giuditta (Ditta) Crisci as a QOTT Acknowledged Retrainer.
Ditta is a confident horse woman and a strong advocate for off the track Standardbreds who has single-handedly retrained over 200 horses since 2013, successfully transitioning them into pleasure and competition mounts across a multitude of disciplines. Ditta originally fell in love with Standardbreds while working as a stable hand in the Harness racing industry, which led her to establish Ditta’s Equine Services, a business dedicated to retraining and rehoming Standardbreds.
“My passion for these horses and their career post-racing originates from my time spent working as a strapper and coming to appreciate the incredible work ethic and trainability of these horses. The extensive handling these horses receive throughout their racing career including daily catching, washing, handling of their legs and feet, riding or driving as well as regular floating or trucking to new venues, makes these horses incredibly well exposed and well-rounded to continue into a ridden career post-racing when repurposed correctly.”
Holding a Bachelor of Applied Science with an extended Major in Equine Science and a Bachelor of Equine Science (Hons I), Ditta works full-time at the University of Queensland Equine Unit which involves teaching the practical equine components of the Veterinary Science and Animal Science degrees and the UQ Skills training programs.
Ditta is dedicated to retraining and rehoming Standardbreds and prides herself on bringing out the best of each horse to succeed in their life after racing.
