ROSIE CARTER

Rosie Carter

Queensland Off-The-Track proudly introduces Rosie Carter as a QOTT Acknowledged Retrainer.

Based in the Scenic Rim region, Rosie runs a small retraining and performance program focused on Off-The-Track Thoroughbreds. A lifelong horsewoman, she is driven by a childhood ambition to train, produce and compete horses, and has dedicated herself to developing Thoroughbreds into versatile sport and pleasure horses beyond their racing careers.

Rosie’s approach to retraining begins with patience and understanding. Horses are given the time they need to settle into a new environment after racing, with an emphasis on relaxation, trust and correct foundational training before progressing to ridden work. Each horse is developed as an individual, with the aim of producing a confident, rideable partner with a long and successful future.

Her program focuses on producing well-rounded horses that are capable of participating in disciplines such as eventing, show jumping, dressage and trail riding, while remaining safe, reliable and enjoyable for everyday riders. Rosie’s goal is to create versatile performance horses that are equally suited to grassroots competition, Pony Club and family homes.

Alongside retraining horses for new careers, Rosie is also developing and competing her own Thoroughbreds in grassroots eventing and show jumping, with the intention of progressing through the levels as the horses mature and gain experience.

Horses in Rosie’s care are raised in a calm family environment and receive consistent handling, attentive management and a high standard of care. Her children are closely involved in the daily life of the horses, helping to produce horses that are relaxed, well-mannered and comfortable around people.

Rosie places strong importance on ethical horsemanship and thoughtful training. The welfare of the horse remains central to every stage of the retraining process, and considerable care is taken to ensure each horse is matched with a suitable rider and home where the horse can continue to develop and thrive.

Passionate about the Thoroughbred breed, Rosie is committed to demonstrating their versatility and promoting them as capable and rewarding sport and pleasure horses beyond racing.

“Retraining begins with trust. Horses need to feel calm and safe before they can learn. Every horse that comes through the program is given the time, care and education needed to succeed in their next chapter.”
