Queensland Racing Integrity Commission

The Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (QRIC) oversees the integrity and welfare standards of racing animals and racing industry participants in Queensland.

If you have concerns about the welfare or mistreatment of a racehorse involved in racing in Queensland, please report it to the QRIC via Report Something:

RSPCA Queensland

To report cruelty, neglect or abandonment of a retired racehorse who is no longer in the care of a registered or licensed racing industry participant, please contact RSPCA Queensland.

If a horse is seriously injured, ill or trapped and requires URGENT attention please contact the RSPCA's Animal Welfare Hotline on 1300 ANIMAL (1300 264 625) or 1300 852 188.

When a horse is injured, sick or neglected and requires attention, but it is NOT an emergency, please complete the RSPCA’s Animal Welfare Complaint Form here: https://www.rspcaqld.org.au/contact-us/report-cruelty

 

Biosecurity Queensland

To report concerns regarding the operations of livestock saleyards or the operations of establishments accepting animals for slaughter, please contact Biosecurity Queensland on 13 25 23.

 

Queensland Police

If you cannot reach the QRIC, Biosecurity Queensland or the RSPCA and the animal welfare matter is urgent, you can also phone your local police station.

Always phone the police if there has been a road accident involving horses.
