Bundaberg Greyhound Track concept designs
Following industry consultation and further design work, two straight-track concepts have now been developed for industry and community feedback:
400m Concept – Option 1 (Drop-on starts)
350m Concept – Option 2 (Drop-on starts)
Both concepts remain under consideration. Feedback received through this consultation will help inform the ongoing design and operational requirements of the facility.
400m Straight Track Option
The 400m straight track concept provides a longer straight-course racing format incorporating a 400m race start together with 350m and 300m drop-on start options. The concept includes an 8-metre-wide track, a relocated judges tower, catching pen, and maintenance bay. The increased track length provides additional racing opportunities and flexibility for future programming while maintaining a dedicated straight-track racing environment. The track is located approximately 71 metres from the inside of the thoroughbred track. As with the 350m option, participant feedback is sought on all key matters for consultation including track width, starting box location and configuration, trial viewing box locations, wash bay and kennel facilities, stir-up pen position and fencing height.
350m Straight Track Option
The 350m straight track design provides a straight-course racing format with start positions including a 350m race start and a 300m drop-on start. The concept includes an 8-metre-wide track, a relocated judges tower, catching pen, and maintenance bay. The design seeks to maximise the available site area while maintaining safe operational requirements for racing and trialling activities. The track is located approximately 38 metres from the inside of the thoroughbred track. Key matters for consultation include track width, starting box location and configuration, trial viewing box locations, wash bays and kennels, stir-up pen position and fencing height. Feedback on each topic is invited to inform the ongoing design and operational development of the facility.
