RACE ONE

This race shapes as a cracking contest with plenty of power drawn off the second line. Forced to sit parked last start, MANILA PLAYBOY (11) felt the pinch late under a 53.7 closing 800 holding on for 2nd to TIZ A SIZZLER. A strong Redcliffe winner when resuming, he can descend on them here.

TARGARYEN (12) is flying with 5 wins in his past 6 starts, the latest at the mile when taking them all the way from gate 2. Using the passing lane to arrive over this trip two starts back, he is not aided by the extreme gate, but with the right cart home can be ready to issue the challenge.

MAKE MINE MEMPHIS (10) is uber consistent, chalking up another minor last week after retreating from gate 7 and then rattling home to be under 2m from the winner. He can be chiming in again.

SWAGGIE SHANNON (2) will relish the chance of seeing the front line after his past 7 in succession have been off the back line. Finding the line nicely last start, settling closer aids his hopes.

SELECTIONS: MANILA PLAYBOY (11), TARGARYEN (12), MAKE MINE MEMPHIS (10), SWAGGIE SHANNON (2)
SUGGESTED BET: MANILA PLAYBOY (11) to win

RACE TWO

Resuming from a spell after a last start 3rd at Menangle TEDDY DISCO (8) will need an element of luck on his side from this gate. That last start was in the G1 NSW Breeders Challenge behind LEAP TO FAME and with three trials to be wound up ready for the return, his class can shine bright.

ANIMADO (4) was slowly off the arm last week before balancing up and forcing the issue to get forward and take control. Leading them into the stretch, he was collared in the closing stages up the passing lane by WOODLEA DIEGO. He might need to do some heavy lifting in this battle.

JACCKA WALLY (1) took them all the way from gate 2 at Redcliffe four starts back in smart time and has faced wide or second line gates in all three since. Back to the tight gate, he can make a play.

SWEDISH STARLET (6) is staring down a hat-trick after faultless wins at the 2138 and then last start at the mile. Closing out in slick fractions last start, the gate makes the task tougher.

SELECTIONS: TEDDY DISCO (8), ANIMADO (4), JACCKA WALLY (1), SWEDISH STARLET (6)
SUGGESTED BET: TEDDY DISCO (8) to win

RACE THREE

Burrowing through from this same gate last start to take control, BONNIES CAM (1) was trying to repel the challengers in the stretch but had to settle just out of the money, 5m astern of THREE RIVERS. Placed both starts prior, he has the gate and options to launch another raid.

DAZZLE ME (11) arrives back in Qld and this time joins the Wayne graham stable after his last visit as a 3YO back in 2019 than included a crack in the Derby claimed by SELF ASSURED. With recent form around Bathurst, he is fresh up here and can be effective if saved for a closing shot.

BETTERTHAN POPSY (5) ran a strong 3rd split last start out three-wide exposed from the 700 and then dropping in at the 350 was able to finish it off for 3rd. He is right in the fight.

BLACKJACK BART (8) was a tough winner when sitting parked here four starts back at this trip but has been out of the money in all three since. With the chance of a soft trip, he can chime in.

SELECTIONS: BONNIES CAM (1), DAZZLE ME (11), BETTERTHAN POPSY (5), BLACKJACK BART (8)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE FOUR

Ready to kick off another term after missing the money just once in 2022, TURN IT UP (7) has to overcome the wide gate to start his season in style. He might just be lit up early with his blistering speed which would then have him in the stalking position if he released. Should be a great contest.

BLACKSADANCE (6) was large in victory last start over the longer 2680m trip when claiming the AP Xmas Cup. The tempo was solid throughout over the 13 furlongs and he was dominant in posting a 6m margin. With his main danger to the outside, the tactical battle might just lead to the winner.

DEUS EX (1) will be better suited from this alley after facing the inside second line last start and buried in the run. 3rd in the Redcliffe Xmas Cup two back, he holds all the early aces.

NORTHVIEW HUSTLER (8) did not go on with it last week from outside the second line after retreating and had to settle for a 5m deficit. With second line options, he can be chiming in.

SELECTIONS: TURN IT UP (7), BLACKSADANCE (6), DEUS EX (1), NORTHVIEW HUSTLER (8)
SUGGESTED BET: TURN IT UP (7) to win

RACE FIVE

Airborne in recent weeks, LE TISSIER (9) was able to stalk the speed when locked away three back on the poles last week before charging through the gap to arrive on the wire. With four wins in his past five appearances and the miss a 2nd to TARGARYEN, he can follow through to arrive once more.

ESCALERA (6) was faced with this same gate last week when taken back to settle rearward and with no moves until the 450m, was strong to the line to be just 3m from the passing lane winner. His form prior was in the FFA ranks and despite the gate, he can be throwing down the challenge.

PARAVANI (2) was chasing in vain last start as SLIUP THE HUNDY proved too slick. Buried in the run two starts back after easing from gate 5, the improved gate can see him up close to feature.

KASH US BACK (5) has placed in both attempts in this grade to start the year after a lean season in 2022. Closing out smartly wide off the track for 3rd last week, he can be joining in again.

SELECTIONS: LE TISSIER (9), ESCALERA (6), PARAVANI (2), KASH US BACK (5)
SUGGESTED BET: LE TISSIER (9) to win

RACE SIX

Resuming from a spell and drawn to stalk the speed, ROCKS OR DIAMONDS (8) will be looking to get to the passing lane with the right momentum to make the closing shot a winning one. Runner-up to TIZ A SIZZLER two back, he has had a pipe opener at the trials in readiness for the first up assault.

SUMOMENTSOMEWHERE (5) has been runner-up in all three starts since resuming from a let up, the latest when asked to do it the tough way when sitting parked and finishing 2m adrift of CAPTAIN NEMO. The gate is tricky again here, but he is up to the challenge.

LYRICAL GENIUS (1) was crossed before the retake move put him back in control and from there, he held on to score here two starts back. 2m from CAPTAIN NEMO last start, he has the options here.

CALL ME KEITH (6) was beaten by the outside second line last start when looking for the short cuts but unable to get into the contest. 5m from LE TISSIER two back, he can be joining in.

SELECTIONS: ROCKS OR DIAMONDS (8), SUMOMENTSOMEWHERE (5), LYRICAL GENIUS (1), CALL ME KEITH (6)
SUGGESTED BET:  Exotics 1-5-6-8

RACE SEVEN

The second of the two veteran’s races on the card in a race that has a number of chances across the race. Despite the second line OUR MAJOR DAY (9) can look to get the right trip to arrive. Sent to sit parked from gate 10 in this grade two back, he was then slammed with a FFA appearance last start. Back to this grade helps.

SOLE AMBITION (2) has featured in a barn switch to join the Shane Graham yard. Eased from gate 4 last start at Redcliffe, he was chasing in vain as KANYE CRUSDAER took them all the way. Beaten a pimple two starts back behind B MAC C, he has the gate to issue a challenge.

FIRST STRING (1) had the speed to lead over this trip three starts back and from the front was able to take them all the way. Down the line in both since, he can be hit or miss but has the gate to hit.

CARDLESFROMHEAVEN (7) lands another 7 to make it three in succession which were preceded by successive starts from gate 6. Rattling home here two back, good tempo keeps him in consideration.

SELECTIONS: OUR MAJOR DAY (9), SOLE AMBITION (2), FIRST STRING (1), CARDLESFROMHEAVEN (7)
SUGGESTED BET: OUR MAJOR DAY (9) to win

RACE EIGHT

After two runs back from a spell, BEJIGGITY (7) cashed in last start at Redcliffe when third up and overcoming the outside front line gate. Attacking the line smartly in the closing stages, she will strip fitter and despite the wide gate, this is open enough to give her the chance to capitalise.

A WHOLE LOTTA ROSIE (6) eased from gate 4 to secure position last start before working home wide off the track to grab the silver behind TINGE OF FEAR. Runner-up at Redcliffe three starts back behind FLIGHT CREW, she can be looking to make a closing challenge.

JAZIAH (8) is in search of a hat-trick of victories after claiming successive Redcliffe victories over the 1780 trip. Taking them all the way last start, she will be probing for the gaps to chime in here.

SOULWRITER (1) faces a rise in grade from her last start to this mare’s qualifier but lands the right gate to feature. Overcoming gate 9 last start at Redcliffe, she is in the mix.

SELECTIONS:  BEJIGGITY (7), A WHOLE LOTTA ROSIE (6), JAZIAH (8), SOULWRITER (1)
SUGGESTED BET: BEJIGGITY (7) to win

RACE NINE

The early speed and mapping looks a messy set up here but whatever happens with the first 400m, it looks likely that CAPTAIN NEMO (6) can be in front where it matters over the last metre. Dead game in defeat behind TARGARYEN tow starts back, he forced the issue to take control last start and see it out. He can take this.

BONNIE PRINCE LOUIS (8) was large in victory here two starts back when sitting parked and proving too strong to claim a narrow victory. Midfield from the second line last start behind CAPTAIN NEMO, he looks set to be snookered in the run here, but if he gets clear in time, can throw it down.

KEAYANG MARVEN (9) trailed the field home last start when unable to get warm in the closing stages. Strong to the line three starts back for 3rd, with the right trail he can be chiming in.

WOODLEA DIEGO (2) has been hitting some good areas in recent starts, claiming three wins in his past five starts. Finding the front before releasing and then nabbing ANIMADO up the passing lane last start, he is in the mix.

SELECTIONS: CAPTAIN NEMO (6), BONNIE PRINCE LOUIS (8), KEAYANG MARVEN (9), WOODLEA DIEGO (2)
SUGGESTED BET: CAPTAIN NEMO (6) to win

RACE TEN

After a pair of strong 2nd placings and coming up with the perfect gate, MOLLIESMARYELLE (1) gets her chance to go one better. Best of the chasers behind MISDEMEANOR last start when trailing that mare I the run, she can burrow through and make any chaser earn the victory.

MISDEMEANOR (5) made full use of the inside gate last week, darting through to keep them wide and then keeping the fuse lit throughout carved out a PB mile in 53.5. Chasing home for the silver from the second line behind AWAYWEGO two starts back, she can throw it down again here.

SPEED DATING (4) was forced to do it the tough way last start when sitting parked in the 1.53.5 victory to MISDEMEANOR. Holding on for the bronze, she may need to roll the sleeves again.

TINGE OF FEAR (8) found 1x1 cover last start and then when produced owned superior closing speed to claim a mare’s qualifier. Game in defeat two starts back when 5m away, she can get the right trip to feature.

SELECTIONS: MOLLIESMARYELLE (1), MISDEMEANOR (5), SPEED DATING (4), TINGE OF FEAR (8)
SUGGESTED BET: MOLLIESMARYELLE (1) to win
