Queensland’s Off-The-Track owners now have access to more benefits than ever with the launch of the QOTT Clubhouse.

The Clubhouse is an online community where all Queensland residents who own an off-the-track thoroughbred or standardbred horse can join to take advantage of the several initiatives on offer, while assisting to increase the visibility of retired horses across the state.

By signing up, owners can access exclusive benefits, including access to accredited education courses and seminars covering best practice in equine training and welfare, as well as members-only discounts thanks to partnerships with organisations including:

  • Cavalor Equicare;
  • Equestrian Queensland;
  • Equitation Science International;
  • HorseRecords;
  • PETstock; and
  • Poseidon Animal Health.

Members-only monthly competitions, as well as direct engagement with the QOTT Program and other OTT owners, are also some of the benefits available to Clubhouse members.

The Clubhouse, as part of QOTT’s ongoing commitment to improve data collection and close the knowledge gap on the ownership and location of former racehorses in Queensland, incentivises owners to register their retired thoroughbred or standardbred horses with QOTT.

Racing Queensland Senior Animal Care Manager Kim Duffy said the Clubhouse was part of the QOTT commitment to maximising aftercare outcomes for retired racehorses in their lives after racing and breeding.

“The Clubhouse will help to provide more support for people with OTT horses, while encouraging more people to get into OTT ownership,” Ms Duffy said.

“It will also help us establish a traceability system to allow us to monitor what horses we have residing across Queensland.

“We are proud to be working with our valuable partners to optimise lifelong racehorse aftercare and promote best practice equine welfare to support retired racehorses in their lives after racing.”

In addition, the QOTT Program has also announced the introduction of the New OTT Owner Welcome Pack.

“Owners of an eligible Queensland horse who has been retired from the racing industry within the last 12 months can apply for a care package worth over $550,” Ms Duffy said.

“They will receive a QOTT-branded Caribu Ripstock Combo Rug from PETstock, as well as welcome packs containing a range of equine health products from both Poseidon Animal Health and Cavalor Equicare.“All the items in the packs have been selected to help horses transition into life after racing, and I want to thank our partners for providing this invaluable support.”

In addition to the support provided by the Clubhouse, owners of an eligible Queensland retired racehorse can apply for free lessons via the QOTT Subsidised Lessons Program with a QOTT Approved Coach of their choice.

The QOTT program was established in 2021 following the Martin Inquiry to provide a high-quality first transition for thoroughbreds and standardbreds from racing and breeding activities to retirement.

Since its inception, QOTT has launched major initiatives including the Acknowledged Retrainers Program, the Subsidised Lessons Program, the Event Sponsorship Program and the QOTT Grants Program.
