RACE ONE

Eased from gate 5 over the 2138 last start, a solid up-front tempo saw HASTY BID (9) with the power in the closing stages to descend on then an pull clear to an effortless 16m victory. Fresh in that victory off a smart effort in the Qld Derby Consolation behind NEPTUNE, tempo will be his friend.

MAJOR ICON (7) is undefeated in two Qld appearances but will need to step up to another level again here. Finding a way to win here two starts back when looking under pressure, he was never in danger last start from this same gate when sent straight to the front. He can throw it down again.

BALBOA SHANNON (5) found the 1x1 trail last start from the second line and was looming up to them when 2m away from the passing lane winner SHES IN LINE. He is a podium chance here.

CONVAIR HUSTLER (3) will take some benefit from his first run back in Qld after joining the Veivers stable. With early speed, he can settle handy enough to hunt a podium result.

SUGGESTED BET: HASTY BID (9) to win

RACE THREE

Another strong 70Heat where front-line tempo will be key for LUKE JOHN (8) as he sweats on the 1 looking to take them all the way. Under that scenario, he will be stalking the speed and be ready to present. Strong to the line last start for 2nd to ELOUISA DALE, he will be ready to take his shot.

FRANKIE FEROCIOUS (1) steps up in grade for this contest off the back of a fade out after sitting parked from gate 6 as BETTING ORIGIN cashed in. 4m from FREE THINKER the start prior in a strong 3YO contest, he can look top make advantage of the gate.

MIDNIGHT CALM (10) is given no favours as he goes in search of a hat-trick after successive wins at the mile. Grinding out a starchy victory last start from gate 6, a strong tempo will aid his hopes.

SPIRIT AND SOUL (7) faced this same gate last start when snagged back early. Making a strong raid over the closing stages when 6m astern of ELOUISA DALE, he can be chiming in again here.

SELECTIONS: LUKE JOHN (8), FRANKIE FEROCIOUS (1), MIDNIGHT CALM (10), SPIRIT AND SOUL (7)
SUGGESTED BET: LUKE JOHN (8) to win

RACE FOUR

Starting from inside the second line last time out, BEACH VILLA (8) was shuffled to four back in the wash up and then had all his momentum stolen when the leader paid a heavy price to be the tempo setter. A gritty 3rd after sitting parked two starts back, he has the second line options to capitalise.

SURF ACE (6) was revved up in the early stages to get across and light the lamps here last time out but with a sub 27 opening panel when pressing forward, was out of power at the 400. A slick winner here three back when leading, limiting the early burn is key to his chances of challenging.

YEP GOT CHOOKS (4) started from the ace last start where he was soon shuffled to three back in holding on for the bronze behind ANNTONIA. He can get forward to feature here.

KASH US BACK (3) was a winner three runs back from inside the second line, darting through on the passing lane for a half-head margin. Runner-up at his next start, he has podium claims here.

SELECTIONS: BEACH VILLA (8), SURF ACE (6), YEP GOT CHOOKS (4), KASH US BACK (3)
SUGGESTED BET: BEACH VILLA (8) to win

RACE FIVE

Bereft of luck here last week from inside the second line, FIVE STAR GEM (3) was shuffled back and then carted backwards by a tiring runner. Losing all momentum before picking a few off up the stretch, he was a close 3rd two runs back at Redcliffe and settling handy can look to capitalise.

ODINS BLACK CROWS (10) faced this same gate last week where he was sent around soon after the start to sit parked. In for the fight, the effort was a tough performance, finishing just a blister short of victory. Buried in the run and flashing late for the bronze two back, he can throw it down again.

TRALEE MAXIE (4) was hitting the line smartly last start from deep field, returning his best run in some time. He can get handy from this gate to make a play for the podium.

JIMMY BEACH (6) has faced the starter twice since arriving in Qld, the latest when fading over the closing stages. A beaten fav first up when 6m away, he can feature here despite a tricky gate.

SELECTIONS: FIVE STAR GEM (3), ODINS BLACK CROWS (10), TRALEE MAXIE (4), JIMMY BEACH (6)
SUGGESTED BET: FIVE STAR GEM (3) to win

RACE SIX

After a smart effort first up for the new stable when finishing strongly for the silver at Redcliffe, KHULAN KID (10) has claimed victory at both runs since. Sent straight to the front over the middle trip last start, he powered clear over the closing stages for an 18m margin. He can chase a threepeat.

JAKKI MUN (3) was runner-up in the 3YO Triad Consolation three starts back from the pocket trail. Faced with gate 5 in each run since, he was too far back last start to make an impact in the closing stages. Settling closer here can see him positioned to challenge.

ALTANA BLUE (8) set the speed after firing out from the tapes at Marburg last start but could not see it out when 6m astern of the winner. Tucked away here, he will be probing for openings.

TEST OF FIRE (2) resumes from a spell and will be first up for the Watson stable. A two-time winner from 12 starts, he has trialled soundly in readiness for his return and the gate aids his chances.

SELECTIONS: KHULAN KID (10), JAKKI MUN (3), ALTANA BLUE (8), TEST OF FIRE (2)
SUGGESTED BET:  KHULAN KID (10) to win

RACE SEVEN

This looks a tricky contest and early positions will likely be keenly sought. After three runs back in Qld, LOUIE THE PUNTER (5) might just get the set up to cash in with the added fitness. Runner-up to the smart 3YO THE TAX CULLECTOR last start from the trail, a solid tempo will aid his cause.

BETTING ORIGIN (6) is afforded no favours from the wide gate for this battle, yet his effort last start in victory suggests he might be able to defy the draw. Powering up to a career PB 1.53.1 mile from the front last time, he can get forward and look to issue the challenge.

SAN MAREA (2) was sent to sit parked last start from gate 7 and despite the tough trip, was able to flex some strength in claiming the win. The improved gate is a help to her chances of a repeat.

ETERNAL GOLD (4) was asked to sit parked last start at Redcliffe over the sprint trip and despite looking out of bullets turning for home, dug deep to grind out the win. He can get forward again.

SELECTIONS: LOUIE THE PUNTER (5), BETTING ORIGIN (6), SAN MAREA (2), ETERNAL GOLD (4)
SUGGESTED BET: LOUIE THE PUNTER (5) to win

RACE EIGHT

HEAVENLY WISDOM (2)
was a winner here five runs back when securing the pocket trail from inside the second line and finishing over the top of them. Drawn wide in three of the four runs since, the other was in a much tougher mare’s qualifier. From the gate she can look to capitalise.

HOIHO (10) was a huge Redcliffe winner at his first Qld appearance four runs back and he backed that up with a smart effort when just out of the money. Placed at his past two starts, he worked hard from gate 6 last start and despite the tough gate can again be issuing a challenge.

MISTER WOODPORT (7) has been runner-up at his past two starts, the latest when sent to sit parked from gate 5 and grinding out a 3m deficit. The gate stings again.

DUKE (5) was asked to sit parked last start and after the tough trip, faded over the closing stages. Off the second line in both prior starts, he can look to settle closer here to grab a minor.

SELECTIONS: HEAVENLY WISDOM (2), HOIHO (10), MISTER WOODPORT (7), DUKE (5)
SUGGESTED BET: HEAVENLY WISDOM (2) to win
