RACE ONE

APRIL IN PARIS (3)
resumes from a spell after placing in the last three of her attempts at breaking maiden ranks last season. Beaten as a red figure fav last start over this trip when trying to take them all the way, she struck some handy one’s last campaign and can return in style here.

MAYWYNS KAREN (1) faced the starter on five occasions in her 2YO term where she was able to return with three minors. Best of the chasing pack behind the well-supported TAMARAH last start, she has the gate to throw it down.

SCORES (9) was building towards the first win of his career and was able to achieve it last start over the AP mile when sent forward from a wide gate. Confidence is a plus; the gate is a minus.

SINGER SNAP (7) has had 64 previous attempts and opening the account that have come up short. A soft trip here gives him a chance to grab some minor money.

SELECTIONS: APRIL IN PARIS (3), MAYWYNS KAREN (1), SCORES (9), SINGER SNAP (7)
SUGGESTED BET: APRIL IN PARIS (3) to win

RACE TWO

SHOOBEE RIGHT (8) was a consistent performer throughout 2023 with nine minors in 17 attempts before claiming the first outright victory of his career here last start. Sweeping down the outside to score in that event, he can look to build and start the year where he left off.

SALS LAST BLAST (2) started from gate 1 here two starts back and was soon shuffled back in the run when grabbing the bronze behind MY ULTIMATE BUDDHA. Runner-up last start from gate 5 when sent out fav, he can get handy to issue the challenge.

FINANCIAL BURDEN (6) broke maiden ranks with a tough effort over the AP mile two starts back when rolling forward from a wide gate. Tackling stronger company last start, he can feature here.

SWEET RIPPIN (3) has started from outside the front line at her past two starts owing to the ODM embargo and moving back into the draw can return a much sharper performance.

SELECTIONS: SHOOBEE RIGHT (8), SALS LAST BLAST (2), FINANCIAL BURDEN (6), SWEET RIPPIN (3)
SUGGESTED BET: SHOOBEE RIGHT (8) to win

RACE THREE

ROCCO VARIETY (6) was a Marburg winner four starts back when firing out to take control from gate 2 and was never bothered thereafter. Not too far away in all three since, he chased from deep field over the AP mile last start with a checkered passage. He can defy the gate in this grade.

SONNY ORLANDO (3) released last start over the 2040 trip after initially finding the front before a midfield finish behind TORQUE IN CONTROL. He finds the right set up here to press forward early and from near the front end will get his chance to issue a challenge.

IM A CLASSY GIRL (9) was making good metres here two starts back when 5m from the winner and last start grabbed 3rd behind a big winner in PYRRHIC DANCER. She can be chiming in here.

JUST ONE GOOD ONE (7) was a Marburg runner-up two starts back when working home wide off the track behind ROCCO VARIETY. From a tricky gate he can be probing for openings.

SELECTIONS: ROCCO VARIETY (6), SONNY ORLANDO (3), IM A CLASSY GIRL (9), JUST ONE GOOD ONE (7)
SUGGESTED BET: ROCCO VARIETY (6) to win

RACE FOUR

MAJOR MONDO (4) started from inside the second line last start over the AP 2138 and was soon three back the inside. Making a late raid to grab the silver behind RISE ABOVE ALL, he is 1 from 2 on this deck and with a few of his opponents susceptible at the trip, can look to capitalise.

THE CASUAL GOOSE (1) was a winner here four starts back when settling in the running line from a second line gate and powering home over the top to aa narrow victory. Buried at each of his past two from an inside second line gate, back to the front line can see him challenge.

SHAKALAKABOOMBOOM (3) has good arm hustle and from this alley can look to fire some early bullets. A winner from the front four runs back, she is a proven winner at the trip and can feature.

TRACER BULLET (7) was a winner two starts back when pulling clear over the closing stages for a big 11m margin. Not far away last start, he will be searching for the openings to offer.

SELECTIONS: MAJOR MONDO (4), THE CASUAL GOOSE (1), SHAKALAKABOOMBOOM (3), TRACER BULLET (7)
SUGGESTED BET: MAJOR MONDO (4) to win

RACE FIVE

OFFICE BAD BOY (8) sat in the pocket trail last three runs back when starting from the ace when finishing 3m from the winner SHAKALAKABOOMBOOM. Following that with another bronze after being sent forward to sit parked, he finds a wide-open contest here and looks up to the task.

DUKE (9) has no favours from the outside second line, but this race could go any number of ways. Buried in the run last start and unable to find the space to make a meaningful challenge, he can look for the right cart into the contest here to stake a claim.

BUSTN FEELZ GOOD (5) has won two of his past five starts, the latest of those at Marburg three runs back when leading throughout. The wide gate dents his chances of chalking up another win here.

LETS SAVE THE DAY (7) was midfield last start when buried form this same gate. At risk of being snookered in the run again here, he will be probing for the openings to offer.

SELECTIONS: OFFICE BAD BOY (8), DUKE (9), BUSTN FEELZ GOOD (5), LETS SAVE THE DAY (7)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE SIX

OUR UNCLE LES (1) forced the issue last start when pressing on from gate 4 to eventually take over but after working early was unable to see it out and faded. Overcoming the outside second line to score two starts back, he can take control early and pinching a panel or two, look to see it out.

TACTFILLY MIRACLE (5) was able to weave a passage last start from a tricky position to arrive with a 3m margin. Building towards that win with some handy performances in recent appearances, she is given no favour from the wide gate at a distance that she has struggled to convert to victory.

ALTANA BLUE (7) will be on the two-day back up but should enjoy the economical trip from this gate. If he can spot the openings with momentum and track, he can be in the mix.

ILLBEWATCHING (6) has placed in three of his past five starts, the latest when chasing for the bronze behind THERESACHANCE. Strong to the line from outside the second line two back, he has claims.

SELECTIONS: OUR UNCLE LES (1), TACTFILLY MIRACLE (5), ALTANA BLUE (7), ILLBEWATCHING (6)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-5-6-7

RACE SEVEN

DELIGHTFUL RAINBOW (3) tackled a mare’s qualifier last start when spearing across to take control in the early stages. Trying to fend them off, she was collared in the last strides to finish just a head away from a perfect end to the year. With the right trip, she can look to go one better.

BLISSFULDAY (1) faced this same gate two starts back and taking the trail at the 2040 trip was 6m astern of the winner THERESACHANCE. Midfield over the AP mile last start behind a dictating SHEZA CRACKER, he lands all the options here to issue a challenge.

HEY MISTER TAYLOR (7) hit the board in 50% of his appearances last term but struggled to convert his consistency into winning form. With the soft trip, he can look to chalk up another minor first up in the new season.

THE WATERBOY (5) was sent forward from this same gate last start and asked to sit parked was not that far from the winner ASHLEE NITRO when 8m astern. He can be thereabouts once again.

SELECTIONS: DELIGHTFUL RAINBOW (3), BLISSFULDAY (1), HEY MISTER TAYLOR (7), THE WATERBOY (5)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-3-5-7

RACE EIGHT

MISTER QUIRK (6) was first up in Qld last start when releasing over the AP mile in a strong contest but unable to go on with it as ARKIN WICKED took the prize. With some handy Penrith form prior to that, he resumes off a freshen and despite the wide gate can look to capitalise.

OYSTER STRIDE (2) could not get across last start from this gate and left exposed early, was able to secure running lien cover, ultimately finishing just out of the money. A runner-up here three back when working home from deep field, he can look to take control and from the front give cheek.

FIRE AND ICE (4) was taken back last start from gate 4 and from back in the pack could not really get warm over the closing stages. First up from a spell two back, he can be sharper here.

TAKE A CHANCE (8) is given no favours from a second line gate as he tackles some experienced performers first up for his 3YO term. Last seen back in August, he has trialled nicely and stays under notice.

SELECTIONS: MISTER QUIRK (6), OYSTER STRIDE (2), FIRE AND ICE (4), TAKE A CHANCE (8)
SUGGESTED BET: MISTER QUIRK (6) to win
