Racing Queensland advises that following an inspection of the track at Mackay Turf Club this morning, the club’s race meeting on Tuesday, February 13, will not proceed.
The decision has been made following the determination that a return to racing on the track on Tuesday could, following its recent renovation, cause significant damage to the racing surface leading into the club’s subsequent meeting on Friday February 23.
RQ has sought to secure an alternative venue for the meeting in its entirety however that has not been possible.
Given this, additional races will be added to the programmes for the Rockhampton Jockey Club and Townsville Turf CLub race meetings on Friday, February 16 and Tuesday, February 20 respectively.
Rockhampton Jockey Club - Friday, February 16
- Class 6 Plate (Set Weights) - 1300m - $21,000; and
- 3YO Maiden Handicap - 1100m - $23,000 + QTIS
Townsville Turf Club - Tuesday, February 20
- Benchmark 58 Handicap - 1200m - $21,000
