2025 GCA Nationals conditions released
Greyhound Clubs Australia, together with the Queensland Greyhound Racing Club, have now released the Conditions of Nomination for the upcoming 2025 Nationals Series.
This will be the first time that all three Championships will be held at the one venue (The Q) on the one night - Saturday, August 30.
Please ensure that you read and understand the Conditions of Nomination prior to nominating for the Nationals. This year will see some major changes to the Series and conditions that all participants should be aware of prior to nominating, which will include among other things, the following:
- No New Zealand representatives: Unfortunately, New Zealand will not be participating in this year’s Nationals.
- Two wildcards entrants: Following New Zealand not participating this year, a decision has been made to incorporate two (2) wildcard entrants for the both the National Sprint and Distance for this year. The wildcards will be the highest ranked greyhounds that have made their respective State finals but have not won their way through to the Championships. The rankings can be found here. The rankings for each year begin at the start of the new year.
- Must trial at The Q: Under the Racing Queensland Grading Policy, a new condition exists requiring all greyhounds to trial prior to racing at The Q. This trialling requirement is a new addition to the Conditions of Nomination and greyhounds will be required to meet this condition prior to racing in the Championship events at The Q.
A greyhound nominated for an event at The Q must have successfully trialled out of the starting boxes to the satisfaction of QRIC stewards and/or QGRC officials, at the specific track it is to be nominated for (Q1, Q2 and/or Q Straight). See the full Q Commissioning Trials Terms and Conditions.
It is important to ensure that all participants understand the full requirements that this condition places upon greyhounds seeking to race at The Q and participants should contact the Queensland Greyhound Racing Club if they require further information.
