Form Analysis: Marburg May 18

RACE 1 

IMA BALLERINA (3) showed good gate speed to get to the pegs on Wednesday night at Redcliffe before eventually being crossed by Louark who went on to win impressively. Battled away well enough late for third and this looks another good opportunity for her to break maiden status. 

BLACK GEMSTONE (1) is racing well this time in. Flashed into third last start once eventually clear in what looked to be some fairly tough conditions. Draws ideally in this race and can be thereabouts again. 

GLENEAGLE HUNTER (6) draws favourably to get a nice run through in the early stages. Hasn’t been at his best but this does look easier. 

THESHARKINSIDE (2) did a few things wrong on debut and is likely to be better for the run there. Needs to improve significantly to trouble the top few but could be in the minor money.

RACE 2 

YSMIR (4) has very good gate speed and might be able to work to the top in this race. She has often taken on tougher company or faced big handicaps in her races and should find this a lot easier coming off the front row of a mobile start. 

KIVICI (7) started off a 40 metre handicap two starts ago and battled away reasonably there being beaten just 21 metres. He battled away reasonably again last start after starting off a 20 metre handicap. 

MILLY AN EYRE (2) has good gate speed and with her best manners she might be first to the fence. She hasn’t raced for nearing on 2 months which looks a query. 

NATTY PAGGER (3) has good gate speed and is a very consistent trotter that loves racing at this track having run second in his latest start and winning his start prior at Marburg.

SUGGESTED BET: YSMIR (4) to win.

RACE 3

ROCCO VARIETY (3) has good gate speed and a suitable draw in this race. If he was able to find his way to the front he’d certainly take some catching around the tight circuit at Marburg. 

SIGNOR JUJON (5) just battled away last start in what looked a stronger race taken out by Mister Delwin. He will need to navigate a wide draw but can figure with even luck in running. 

OLD ENGLISH (1) returns from a spell in this race off the back of a solid trial effort. Has good gate speed and can dictate early and secure a good run in the race. 

OUTER CHANGE (7) worked hard last start to obtain the lead running an 11.3 lead time and 29.4 first quarter at Redcliffe which is probably just a touch too fast for the grade. She is likely to be better suited with a softer run early in this race.

SUGGESTED BET: OUTER CHANGE (7) to win. 

RACE 4 

A ROCKNROLL STAR (7) has been improving each run this time in and was good again last start when making up some ground. Two runs ago he led and was well beaten but he did over race badly there and set a very solid tempo for the grade. Looks well suited in this company. 

DOC HARVEY (8) seems to mix his form. His best efforts are certainly good enough to figure somewhere in the finish of this race. 

ROCKNROLL DA GAMA (5) had a good run last start one out one back and just couldn’t quite finish it off late when running into sixth. This race looks a lot easier and despite the wide draw he looks one of the better hopes. 

MAJOR GENERALJUJON (9) pulled out 3 wide in the quickest part of the race last start and just struggled to get into it there when running into fifth as favourite.

RACE 5

TULHURST SMOOCHER (1) raced at Redcliffe last start and powered into it late behind Our Dolly who has since run well. She draws favourably in gate 1 and this looks her race to lose. 

AUNTY FRANCES (6) should get the perfect run through in the early stages on the back of a gate speed horse. Should be nearing peak fitness third up from a spell. 

SKIPPERS SWAN SONG (7) is having her third run back from a spell in this race. She was solid enough first up and this race looks to have a touch less depth than her recent outings. 

COULD IT BE ME (2) has been going better than her numerical form suggests having taken on a few stronger races than this one.

SUGGESTED BET: TULHURST SMOOCHER (1) to win. 

RACE 6 

MY ULTIMATE LOUIE (2) led last start at Marburg and ran a competitive race there finishing second to Keayang Tara. Could be the leader again and can run a race in front. 

OCTOBER RACKETEER (8) hasn’t been in the best of form but drops into an easier race and should really find this a lot more suitable. He can be sat up and saved for one run which seems to be his preferred racing pattern. 

HES REGAL (4) has good gate speed but may not have the speed to zip across in this race. He can do work in this company and shouldn’t be too far away. 

WILLIEWA LIGHTNING (9) was a good winner three starts ago closing late to score. He made a break two back in a stand start so can be forgiven for the beaten margin there. 

SELECTIONS: MY ULTIMATE LOUIE (2), OCTOBER RACKETEER (8), HES REGAL (4), WILLIEWA LIGHTNING (9)

SUGGESTED BET: OCTOBER RACKETEER (8) to win. 

RACE 7

MELTON INSULTED (1) has plenty of gate speed and should easily have the speed to hold the lead and prove hard to catch from there. Didn’t have much luck last start when getting back from a wide gate. 

MAJOR TRALEE (2) got a long way back last start in a slowly run race and did well to finish as close as he did. Draws favourably this time and should be far away in the run. 

SPORTING TRISTAR (6) gets the perfect run through early on the back of the likely leader. She should get every chance from there. 

MAJOR SLIP UP (4) has dropped right back in grade into this company and looks well graded if he can recapture some of his better form.
