Form Analysis: Marburg May 25

RACE 1 

STARZZZONTHEWATER (1) showed good gate speed on debut to lead initially before handing over. She then went to the line appearing to have a bit to give after getting dragged out of the race by I Am Ceasar. Can lead early and has options from there.

IMA BALLERINA (3) showed good gate speed last start but was unable to cross Black Gemstone and ended up tailed out late. She is better than that run and can bounce back if able to secure a more economical run in this race.

THE FAULTINMYSTARS (5) has shown ability in his few starts. He was an impressive fourth on debut at Redcliffe when sitting without cover initially before obtaining a 1-1 trail. He then made a break last start at Albion Park and finds herself ODM as a result.

I AM CAESAR (9) led last start at Redcliffe and was well beaten there albeit in what looks like to be a strong form race taken out by Call It Bling. Faces a tough draw and will need the right run into the right to figure.

RACE 2 

ROCKNROLL DA GAMA (9) finished off strongly last start after racing on the pegs. Looks to have landed in a very suitable race here where he clearly brings in some of the stronger form. He can be running on strongly late and would be benefited by a solid tempo.

CAPTAIN OH CAPTAIN (8) was well supported last start into favouritism there before finishing sixth. This race doesn’t look a great deal tougher and can be running on late.

MOLLIDOR (1) led last start at Marburg and was good enough to battle on for a close up second there. She generally does her best work when drawing to find the fence in this type of grade. Has options again from the good draw and should be in the finish with the right run.

DOC HARVEY (4) ran poorly two starts ago when giving ground a long way out over the 2040 at Redcliffe. Was much improved effort last start when tucked away on the pegs at Marburg and finishing well enough once into the clear.

RACE 3

ABSOLUTELY STOKED (3) began slowly last start and ended up leaders back. It became a dash home and the winner had momentum up while she was still looking for a run. She seems to begin better between horses and could find herself on the front end in this race which would see her become the one to beat.

LITTLE MICKEY (8) took on a much stronger restricted wins race last start won by Imani and was beaten a big margin of 50 metres. He has been used off the gate in his last two races and may just be better served driven quietly in the early stages which he could get the opportunity to do in this race from the back row draw.

ART OF ROCK (9) hasn’t been at his absolute best in recent outings having been unplaced for his last five starts. He does seemingly drop into a much easier race here and might be able to bounce back to form.

MELTON SCHLEGER (1) ran on reasonably last start off and economical trip three back on the pegs. Looks likely to secure a good run again and can be thereabouts the minor money.

RACE 4 

A ROCKNROLL STAR (8) was the first horse 3 wide last start at Marburg and ran on reasonably for third in what was a solid last half for the grade. Looks likely to do no work early again this time and should be running on late. Would appreciate a more genuine early tempo.

CRIME TIME (9) doesn’t have the best numerical form but appears to be racing fairly well. He wasn’t beaten far last start from what was quite an unsuitable draw inside the back row. He is tough and can be put into the race.

CHANCELESS CENTURY (3) can mix his form at times. He was a very good winner at the end of March and sitting just off the speed and closing best to get over the top. He battled on reasonably last start at Redcliffe for fifth in an effort that would likely see him competitive in this race.

FEELING THE POWER (4) secured a suitable run last start on the leaders back and was good enough to battle on for a competitive second behind Justcallmenitro. He appears to have drawn awkwardly in this race and is likely to get back in the early stages.

RACE 5

GOTTA DREAM (1) should have the necessary gate speed to drive through and lead them up from the good draw. Rarely runs a bad race when leading with her last three victories having come when out in front. He hasn’t had the best of luck in recent starts and looks a good hope of bouncing back here.

SKIPPERS SWAN SONG (2) was well beaten last start after starting on the back row at Marburg. They did rate very fast time for the grade there and it wasn’t a suitable race to be off the pegs. Draws favourably in this race and can secure a good run.

SHEZAMATERIALGIRL (6) should get a good run through in the early stages of this race. Was a good winner two starts ago when leading all the way at Redcliffe to score over the in form Kiwi Royalty.

MAJOR TRALEE (5) worked hard early last start and wasn’t able to obtain the lead. Once back into the clear he finished off well in what was a nice effort behind Major Slip Up.

RACE 6 

STUDLEIGH MARK (3) is a horse with brilliant gate speed that is always hard to hold out in the early stages. He suffered Cardiac Arrythmia at his latest race start and was stood down to trial where he ran well behind the much higher rated Studleigh Punter. If he could work to the lead he’d prove very hard to catch.

CELESTINE (1) has plenty of gate speed and likely dictates in the early stages. She was in career best form prior to her last two starts. She obtained a good run last start and was well beaten there behind Ultimate Ark. 

IM BOO (4) appears to be well graded back into this company having taking on Charge Ahead his most recent race start. He draws somewhat awkwardly in gate 4 but is generally a go forward type and can do work in his races when in the right grade.

IGNITE THE FIRE (7) sat without cover first up for new trainer Alex Johnson two starts ago and was a good second there. Was forced to do the work again last start and battled away fairly again to not be beaten too far into sixth.

SUGGESTED BET: STUDLEIGH MARK (3) to win.

RACE 7

TEACHERS PET (1) has decent gate speed and looks a race she might be able to do enough to lead in the early stages. She has always been a horse that’s done her best work out in front and she has also had plenty of success at this track with her last two runs at the track both wins.

MELTON INSULTED (6) should get a good run through early on the back of Teachers Pet. She was forced to work hard last start and just couldn’t quite hang on after leading when fading into third pate. She had been racing well prior to that run and looks likely to figure with even luck in running.

CAPTAIN FOXTROT (5) has drawn poorly which appears to make his bid for victory a whole lot tougher around Marburg. He took on a strong race last start and was off the pegs there in a race dominated by the runners on the pegs. He would appreciate a solid tempo and should be running on late.

LA SABINA (2) ran well last start after obtaining a good run leaders back. She draws well again in this race and should secure a good run. Her most recent run at the track was a win.

RACE 8

CONVINCED (8) was well beaten last start in a race taken out by Firebolt at Albion Park. This looks considerably easier dropping back into a race at Marburg. He can be saved up for one run at them and should be finishing off well. 

FOR NO REASON (1) has the draw in this race but the query certainly looks to be her gate speed. If she can muster up enough speed to lead, then she’d take plenty of catching in a race of this nature. She was a nice effort three runs ago when second to Pretty Little Liar at Redcliffe.

MILLIEWOOD (7) is always thereabouts without winning often. She was a solid third two starts ago behind Shes In Line in a race that might’ve even been a touch stronger than the once she faces in this race. Goes best when saved up for one run at them late.

TOMMY BLIGH (9) ran on well last start in a race dominated by the pegs with the first two runners home leaders back and leading. He is a horse that is versatile in this type of grade and could be driven a number of ways.

RACE 9

OCTOBER RACKETEER (4) was expertly driven last start to get through and score a big victory. Saved all the ground up the pegs before bursting into the clear and winning over My Ultimate Louie. He ran fast time there in his win at Marburg and looks well placed again in this company.

SPECIALANDIKNOWIT (7) was doing his best work last start when eventually into the clear. He seems to like racing at the trip having scored his most recent victory over the 2040 at Redcliffe in February of this year. He has now had a few runs back after a break and should be nearing peak fitness.

SAINT LOUIS BEAT (8) has been racing reasonably in recent starts. Didn’t have much luck last start when starting from an awkward gate and getting back in the early stages there. Can be saved up for one run at them late and can be running on well.

CONAIR HUSTLER (1) is likely to have the gate speed to lead in the early stages and then will have options from there. He was a recent winner at Redcliffe when leading all of the way in what was probably a weaker race.
