RACE 1

WESTERN ARTERRA (1) is first up from a spell in this race which is a significant query. He draws to lead and has very good gate speed so can dictate in the early stages.

MIGHTY JOLT (2) has options from the good draw. He has been in good form and if the runs come at the right time he can be fighting it out late.

MY ULTIMATE VICTOR (6) was a good winner last start when coming from a long way back to run down Take A Chance. He is faced with a wide draw which could make it a tough task in this.

INDI AIR TONIGHT (5) doesn’t appear a horse ideally suited to the Trot Rods format given she is seemingly tougher than she is a high speed horse. She has been in reasonable form of late and could figure if things went her way in the run.

SELECTIONS: WESTERN ARTERRA (1), MIGHTY JOLT (2), MY ULTIMATE VICTOR (6), INDI AIR TONIGHT (5)

SUGGESTED BET: WESTERN ARTERRA (1) to win.

RACE 2

Interesting Heat of the Trot Rods with a mix of form lines coming into the race. ROCKNROLL TIMES (1) is a brilliant gate speed horse and looks likely to get the opportunity to find his favourite position out in front.

LA MISTRESS (2) followed a strong tempo set by Edward Jay last start at Redcliffe and was able to overpower him late after getting into the clear. She looks likely to secure a good run again in this race and can be finishing off strong.

BORELLA (3) was a big improver last start when running third to Soho Casablanca. He is a speedy type that looks suited to the trot Rods format.

CALL TO ORDER (6) is the class runner of the field. He secured an ideal run last start behind My Ultimate Buddha and was able to pull off his back late to score a nice win. He draws widest here but looks a hope with the right run.

SELECTIONS: ROCKNROLL TIMES (1), LA MISTRESS (2), BORELLA (3), CALL TO ORDER (6)

SUGGESTED BET: ROCKNROLL TIMES (1) to win.

RACE 3

FLO RYDA (1) has some gate speed and could potentially hold a prominent position early in this race which would see him become a strong chance in the race. He has been racing well without a great deal of luck in recent starts when not beaten far.

TAKE A CHANCE (4) led for a long way last start when running along. He was just reeled in very late last start by My Ultimate Victor who’d sat off the solid tempo and was able to sprint over the top late. If he was able to obtain the lead he’d become hard to beat.

THERESACHANCE (7) should get a reasonable run through early in this race and loves racing on the pegs. He was able to reel in Dream Melody in a recent win after racing 3 back on the pegs throughout.

LORD MEMNOCK (6) starts from a wide gate in this race. He has been racing well in stronger company and can do work in this company.

SELECTIONS: FLO RYDA (1), TAKE A CHANCE (4), THERESACHANCE (7), LORD MEMNOCK (6)

SUGGESTED BET:

RACE 4

FAY IRENE (9) did a lot of work in her last run at Redcliffe when still able to finish a close up second. She returns in this race after over a month between runs which is a genuine query but if she is ready to go she can be hard to beat.

CYCLONE TONY (8) led and won a Trot Rods heat last start. Takes on the 2040 this time and over racing can be an issue it seems for this horse which could prove an issue over the longer journey. He has the ability to be right in the finish if he brings his best manners.

THE TIGER ARMY (5) couldn’t make up any ground last start when getting back in the run. Did all the work his start prior when sitting outside of Megs Boy and battled on well enough there.

GRIGORA (3) made up good ground last start to get into the placings. Can be thereabouts again.

SELECTIONS: FAY IRENE (9), CYCLONE TONY (8), THE TIGER ARMY (5), GRIGORA (3)

SUGGESTED BET: FAY IRENE (9) to win.

RACE 5

PINKCHAMPAGNE (1) has reasonable gate speed and should have enough speed to hold. Last time she was able to obtain the lead she handed over to the classier Sun Wukong and was able to battle away well enough for third.

ROSARITO (7) looks likely to secure a good run through in the early stages of this race. He has been in good form scoring a nice win two starts ago when finishing off over the top.

MISTER DELWIN (8) led last start and was just slightly too good there. Seems to be better when chasing and gets the opportunity to come from back in the field again this time.

JIMMY JOYCE (5) led last start and got things easy enough in the lead to score. Is likely to find this tougher from a wide gate.

SELECTIONS: PINKCHAMPAGNE (1), ROSARITO (7), MISTER DELWIN (8), JIMMY JOYCE (5)

SUGGESTED BET:

RACE 6

I GOT CHILLS (5) is a kiwi that’s first up from a spell without a trial in this race. He took on some of the better races last year won by Chase Me who he was able to run second to in October. He looks to have a considerable margin on his rivals in this race class wise and should be recording his first QLD victory.

TWILIGHT TANGO (9) is having her first start for new trainer Ron Sallis. She took on some decent enough younger horses in WA and looks well placed in this restricted wins race to run into the placings. Her one win came when she was able to beat one of WAs top 3YOs in Belly Up.

UNCUT GEM (7) draws awkwardly inside the back row and follows out a horse with moderate gate speed. He has been racing well and can figure in the placings with even luck in running.

ESTER JEAN (6) was an impressive second two race starts ago when second to Ogedie making a break when being pulled into the clear. She then performed poorly and was stood down to trial where she trialled fairly.

SELECTIONS: I GOT CHILLS (5), TWILIGHT TANGO (9), UNCUT GEM (7), ESTER JEAN (6)

SUGGESTED BET: TWILIGHT TANGO (9) to place.

RACE 7

LITTLE BOLT (1) has utilised the claim of Hannah Anforth to draw gate 1 in this race. He led last start and over raced setting a strong tempo for the 2040 and was only just reeled in late by Misty Creek who’d had a soft trip there. Looks another race he can lead and be hard to catch in.

RISK TAKER (5) was well beaten last start in a race won by the very smart The Janitor in a 1.50.7 mile rate. Will find this considerably easier here and despite the wide gate he looks hard to beat.

SERGIOS ROCKET (4) ran third last start from a long way back in the race behind Swell Time. She will find this much easier and can be finishing off strongly late again.

COTE DAZUR (2) may be looking to get a good run on the pegs in this race which is a trip he’s very well suited to.

SELECTIONS: LITTLE BOLT (1), RISK TAKER (5), SERGIOS ROCKET (4), COTE DAZUR (2)

SUGGESTED BET: RISK TAKER (5) to win.

RACE 8

ALTANA BLUE (5) sat without cover last start and battled on nicely there to finish close up. This looks a similar type of race and he can be driven a number of ways. Looks hard to beat.

MATAI REACTOR (8) is always running on late in this type of company. He draws behind a gate speed horse and can be finishing off late.

CONNIES SPIRIT (2) has good gate speed but does draw outside of a gate speed horse in this race. Was finishing off fairly well last start once clear. Can be running on late again.

THE GROGMOTHER (4) hasn’t been racing at her absolute best but does land in a winnable race here.

SELECTIONS: ALTANA BLUE (5), MATAI REACTOR (8), CONNIES SPIRIT (2), THE GROGMOTHER (4)

SUGGESTED BET: ALTANA BLUE (5) to win.

RACE 9

TOUGH FIGHTER (1) showed some promise last time in when running a number of placings in maidens. He was able to lead two starts ago and just found a couple better on that occasion. He looks likely to lead from the good gate and can prove hard to beat.

ENJABONARLO (4) ran into fourth on debut in a heat of the Gold Crown at Bathurst. He will find this race easier and should be right in the finish.

TWOSIPSALLY (3) returned nicely last start when running into second late behind Louark. Should have derived good benefit from that first up effort.

THE POST GIRL (2) can secure a good run in the race from a low gate. She finished off reasonably two starts ago at Marburg.

SELECTIONS: TOUGH FIGHTER (1), ENJABONARLO (4), TWOSIPSALLY (3), THE POST GIRL (2)

SUGGESTED BET: TOUGH FIGHTER (1) to win.
