RACE 1

MISSTREPO (2) should have the speed to drive through and lead. She was a very tough second last start when sitting without cover outside Mullum Doc and just narrowly going down to Our Ultimate Jessy who came from off the speed. Should be hard to catch.

BORSELLINO (1) is a very capable sit sprinter that looks likely to secure the perfect run in this race on the leaders back. He landed leaders back two starts ago and wasn’t quite able to reel in Ribeiro there.

HELL OF A HAND (7) got back in the run last start and hit the line nicely late. She comes into this race fourth up and should be nearing peak fitness. She looks likely to secure a good run through.

MAYWYN TROUBADOUR (9) sat without cover last start and wasn’t beaten far there. His previous two runs were both wins in Trot Rod races.

SELECTIONS: MISSTREPO (2), BORSELLINO (1), HELL OF A HAND (7), MAYWYN TROUBADOUR (9)

SUGGESTED BET: BORSELLINO (1) to win.

RACE 2

ROCK HAMMER (1) has good gate speed and is a capable leader. He led two starts ago and was just narrowly beaten by The Tiger Army who had the run on his back there. When he was narrowly beaten two runs ago it was over the 2040 and he may appreciate the step back to 1780.

QUIK CHANGE (7) should secure a good run through on the likely leaders back. He ran a good race last start when sitting off the pegs on a strong tempo with the first two home on the pegs. He shouldn’t be far away.

VINDICATE (8) appears to be dropping in class off a lot of her recent races. She drew poorly last start and couldn’t get into the race in what became a dash home. She would appreciate a solid early tempo and can be running on late.

LA MISTRESS (9) was a strong winner in fast time four starts ago over Edward Jay at this track. Took on a strong race last start won by Jumpingjoy and wasn’t too far away from the place getters.

SELECTIONS: ROCK HAMMER (1), QUIK CHANGE (7), VINDICATE (8), LA MISTRESS (9)

SUGGESTED BET:

RACE 3

MISSED CONSEQUNCES (1) has good gate speed and should have the speed to drive through and lead. She will be hoping to get things easier than she did two starts ago when taken on by Mullum Doc and finishing third there. Has had success previously over the 2040.

TIGER TOMMY (2) has been brilliantly consistent in recent starts running into the placings her last three runs. She sat 1-1 two starts ago behind Mullum Doc on what was a version genuine tempo and just wasn’t quite able to reel him in late.

SO MANY MOMENTS (10) didn’t have much luck last time out when racing on the pegs after starting inside the back row. She is generally best when able to control the race up on speed and could get that opportunity again in this race over her preferred trip.

MADAM WEST (7) closed best to score in an easier race two runs ago. The tempo didn’t suit her there in what was a very slowly run race and she was still too good. She should secure a good run through at the start.

SELECTIONS: MISSED CONSEQUNCES (1), TIGER TOMMY (2), SO MANY MOMENTS (10), MADAM WEST (7)

SUGGESTED BET: TIGER TOMMY (2) to win.

RACE 4

CONGO LINE (6) was successful at this track last start when sweeping home down the outside to score well. He draws poorly in this race but looks the class runner and there could be some speed on early. Can be in the finish again.

BETTERTHAN POPSY (7) starts on the back row but given he is the only horse off the back row he has options early. He was a dominant winner last start in fast time after securing the perfect run 1-1 when very well driven there.

XPRESS PARTY (3) led last start and was run down late by Congo Line. He has good gate speed but there may be a bit of a query whether he can get across to the lead in this race with Cote Dazur drawn to his inside.

SIR BRIGADOON (1) has no gate speed which has often seen him unlucky in his races. He was badly held up two starts ago before finishing off well. He ran on reasonably last start when racing off the pegs in a race dominated by runners on the pegs.

SELECTIONS: CONGO LINE (6), BETTERTHAN POPSY (7), XPRESS PARTY (3), SIR BRIGADOON (1)

SUGGESTED BET: BETTERTHAN POPSY (7) to win.

RACE 5

ALTANA BLUE (2) only has moderate gate speed but draws well and should get a good run however it pans out early. He was good enough to run them down two starts ago after securing a good run in the race off the speed.

ILLBEWATCHING (8) ran a strong second last start when sitting without cover outside Freelance Dancer and just being beaten by Royal Winkle who secured a good run in the race.

GRIGORA (6) made an error at the start last time out and finds himself ODM as a result in this race. He has been racing well and is rarely far away. Started from this draw in May and ran on strongly into third there.

MY SCIMITAR (9) showed gate speed last start before being left without cover at Albion Park and was well beaten there. Drops back in grade into this race and should secure a good run off the speed.

SELECTIONS: ALTANA BLUE (2), ILLBEWATCHING (8), GRIGORA (6), MY SCIMITAR (9)

SUGGESTED BET: GRIGORA (6) each way.

RACE 6

HIGHWAY WRITER (2) has gate speed and might be able to find the front in this race. Would need to win that early speed battle to be a hope in the race but if he does can prove hard to catch leading.

BOKHARI (1) has moderate gate speed and has just been racing fairly. Given the draw and likely suitable run he shouldn’t be far away.

FANCY LIKE BARBIE (8) comes into this race third up and should be fitter for her first two outings this time in. Took on a stronger race than this last start and wasn’t beaten too far by Royal Winkle there.

GALVARINO (4) comes into this race third up. Took on what looked a stronger race last start and was finishing off moderately there.

SELECTIONS: HIGHWAY WRITER (2), BOKHARI (1), FANCY LIKE BARBIE (8), GALVARINO (4)

SUGGESTED BET: FANCY LIKE BARBIE (8) to win.

RACE 7

PREMIER PAUL (8) the formerly named ‘Premier’ in NZ is having his first start in Australia for the Brennan stable. He brings in strong form into this race including a third to Rubira who is likely to be one of the stronger Derby hopes and was able to beat Fate Awaits on Saturday. He is likely to be the shortest priced favourite of the night.

LONGSHOT (4) was driven aggressively last start to hold the breeze before giving ground late beaten 32 metres. Has good gate speed and might able to secure a good run in this race. If able to secure a more economical run he can be thereabouts the placings.

LITTLE WHIPPET (3) secured a good run on the pegs last start and was able to work away from the inside to ger into second. Draws awkwardly in gate 3 but does appear to have some gate speed and might be able to secure a good run in this race.

IM ALBY (7) appeared to be well suited racing with cover last start and looked to have every chance to finish a lot closer than his beaten margin of 24.5m given his recent efforts. They did go very quickly for the grade and with the right run in this race he can bounce back.

SELECTIONS: PREMIER PAUL (8), LONGSHOT (4), LITTLE WHIPPET (3), IM ALBY (7)

SUGGESTED BET:

RACE 8

FRANCS FOR COMING (3) has good gate speed and might be able to find the front in this race which would give him a solid hope. He took on a strong field last start in a race won by Our Sweet Jess in fast time. This looks easier.

OHOKAREDROBINJUJON (8) was very well driven last start to secure the run leaders back behind Francs For Coming. Although he was able to run past that horse last start it is likely to be more difficult this time given the draws and he will be hoping Francs For Coming doesn’t lead again.

APACHE BART (4) brings strong NSW form into this race. Draws awkwardly in gate 4 and is having his first start for new trainer Jonah Hutchinson.

CHEEKY BABY (9) is rarely far away without having quite been able to break through for a second victory. Looks a solid chance for the minor money.

SELECTIONS: FRANCS FOR COMING (3), OHOKAREDROBINJUJON (8), APACHE BART (4), CHEEKY BABY (9)

SUGGESTED BET:

RACE 9

GLENEAGLE RULER (3) has good gate speed and took on a race won by Canadian Lass last start at Albion Park. He took the trail early on Pats Boys but in what is probably a slower front row he may elect to hold the front this time.

OUR ULTIMATE LOIS (8) hit the line reasonably two back behind Big Rock Singer when running third there. Draws reasonably on the back row albeit behind a horse with little to no gate speed.

JUST A COOL DUDE (4) started a short priced favourite last start and was quite disappointing there when running ninth. He would need to improve significantly on that effort to figure in this race but it does look a slightly weaker race.

PATS BOYS (7) zipped off the gate last start to find the front and was well beaten in the end there when running sixth. He may elect to come off at the start from the inside back row draw in this race and can secure a more economical run.

SELECTIONS: GLENEAGLE RULER (3), OUR ULTIMATE LOIS (8), JUST A COOL DUDE (4), PATS BOYS (7)

SUGGESTED BET: GLENEAGLE RULER (3) to win.
