Form Analysis: Marburg June 8

RACE 1 

I AM CAESAR (1) bumped into a smart filly in Miarka last start and had to settle for third there beaten 18.3 metres. This looks a race he can lead in and if he runs to his recent efforts he should prove very hard to beat.

IMA BALLERINA (3) led last start at Redcliffe and just worked too hard fading out of it late into sixth. She has good gate speed but draws outside of one of her key rivals in I Am Caesar which may mean she needs to do the work again. 

LANEYS LAST (6) follows through on the back of I Am Caesar who is the likely leader in the race. This filly has shown promise in her races so far and appears to have decent ability.

DIGBY DEVIL (7) has options in the early stages from a good draw whether he goes to the pegs or stays in the running line. Shouldn’t be far away.

RACE 2 

CHANCELESS CENTURY (7) wasn’t beaten far at Marburg two runs ago after obtaining the 1-1. Looks likely to get a good run through at the start on the back of a horse that is likely to look for the lead in Todays Hero. Should be thereabouts again.

TODAYS HERO (2) has moderate gate speed and may have found a race where he can find his favourite position out in front. He has poor numerical form but hasn’t had much luck in his races and this race and company looks a lot more suitable.

HAWK EYE (5) ran an improved race last start when first up for the new stable. Draws widest in this race and will likely get a long way back but can figure if its run to suit.

DOC HARVEY (4) hasn’t been racing at his absolute best but does look well suited in this company. He has good gate speed and may look to find a prominent position in this race.

RACE 3

GOTTA DREAM (1) was very unlucky last start when not far away behind Jukebox Jet after getting badly checked at a crucial stage. He has decent gate speed and may be able to do enough to lead in this race which would see him hard to beat.

MELTON INSULTED (5) is a gate speed mare. She showed gate speed last start before pulling hard when left without cover. This race might be a touch easier and she shouldn’t be too far away in the run.

MY ULTIMATE LOUIE (2) may have the opportunity to drop onto the back of Gotta Dream if the usually slow beginner Batman Bart isn’t able to muster enough speed to hold that position. He was good in two recent second placings when able to lead.

COPY WRITER (8) loomed up nicely last start after launching 3 wide early there. She should get a good run off the speed in this race and can be running on late.

RACE 4 

CULLECTINGCARDLES (2) trialled sharply recently when hitting the line powerfully late in an effort that suggested she wont be long without a second victory in her career. She has good gate and looks the leader in the race and should prove very hard to catch.

TEAM SPORT (9) has shown promise in his career and has seemingly gone around in the market a number of times without quite having been able to break through for another win. He looks to have found a suitable race but has drawn outside the back row which looks to make things a bit tougher.

MELTON SCHLEGER (7) has been racing well and hit the line strongly two runs ago at this track behind Absolutely Stoked. Draws to follow through a gate speed horse and should get a good run.

BELMER BETTY (1) has taken on stronger races in both the Heat and Consolation of the QBRED Breeders Classic Series. She has gate speed giving her options from the good draw.

RACE 5

OCTOBER RACKETEER (5) worked hard to get to the front last start over the 2040 at Marburg before giving a good kick and just being run down late by Unit Forty One in fast time for the grade. If he was able to lead again in this grade he should go very close.

CAPTAIN OH CAPTAIN (7) is looking for back to back wins after scoring over the 1780 at Redcliffe on Thursday sweeping home over the top. He looks to land in a race there might be a solid early tempo which would suit him.

SHES CLASSY (8) hit the line powerfully last start once eventually clear. She seems to go well when saved up for one run at them late which she may get the opportunity to do in this race given the draws. 

FEELING THE POWER (3) was able to secure back to back second placings two starts ago after obtaining a good run three starts ago behind the leader before finishing strongly last start at Marburg. Can be thereabouts again with the right run in this race.

RACE 6 

CONVINCED (1) has good gate speed and can likely drive through and lead this race from the perfect draw. He has had no luck since returning from a spell getting a long way back from a wide gate two back before being badly inconvenienced last start. 

WHOS WATCHING LILY (6) should get the right run through early on the back of Convinced who will be looking to hold early. She doesn’t have the best numerical form but hasn’t had the best of luck in her races and is a likely improver given a soft trip on the pegs this time.

MUCH BETTOR (8) was able to zip off the gate last start and took a sit there before hitting the line well once clear. He was a month between runs there so is likely to be better for the run and can be finishing off late again.

ROYAL PRINCESS (5) finds herself ODM after making a break at the start last time out and has since trialled moderately.

SUGGESTED BET: CONVINCED (1) to win.

RACE 7

SUNNY COVE (2) has good gate speed and this looks a very suitable race if he can find the front and settle. He doesn’t win often but is rarely far out of the placings and was second again last start behind Ebony Belle.

WILLIEWA LIGHTNING (5) was a good winner two starts ago when getting a 3 wide cart into the race at Redcliffe behind Jukebox Jet over the 2040. He draws wide in this race and may get back in the run which is likely to make it tough but he does bring in some of the better form.

CRIME TIME (6) draws awkwardly inside the back row. He scored a good win two runs ago at Marburg when closing best there to get over the top and score and if he does get clear in this race he should be hard to beat.

SCORES (8) made a break two race starts ago and found himself out of the draw as a result. He went around in a recent trial to remove the ODM tag and gets back into the draw this time which might see him an improver.

RACE 8

SPLASHNDASH (2) has good gate speed and might be able to get across For No Reason in the early stages who isn’t noted for having great gate speed. Was able to cross two starts ago and was only nabbed late by Botticelli who had the cold sit on his back at Albion Park.

POCKET BOOK (7) drops in class to take on this race and draws nicely to follow out a gate speed horse. She ran a good fifth in the division B qualifying mares race two runs ago after obtaining the 1-1 trail. 

STUDLEIGH MARK (5) was an impressive effort recently at this track when things didn’t pan out for him in the early stages after an early challenge for the front he battled away well for second. He will need luck to secure a good run from the wide gate but if he does he looks very well graded in this company.

SHEREACTS (4) started from a wide gate last start and went quickly early to get to the front. She just got tired late and finished in 6^th. She looks likely to need to work again in this race.
