RACE 1

LENNY LINCOLN (2) has reasonable gate speed on a front row where there doesn’t appear to be any brilliant beginners. Last time he was able to lead he was gallant in defeat over the 2138. With a lesser horse drawn to his inside in this race he looks to get his chance.

BETTOR ROMANCE (9) numerically hasn’t got the best form but she is racing much better than that. She looks suited in this company and can secure a good run off the speed. She can be running on late.

SERGIOS ROCKET (5) has placed in her last two starts and appears to be going well enough to be competitive in a race of this nature. She draws awkwardly in this race and might get back in the run.

COMMODORE JUJON (6) returned last start from a wide gate at Albion Park in what was a very slowly run race. He looks well graded in this race and should be a solid hope despite the wide draw.

SELECTIONS: LENNY LINCOLN (2), BETTOR ROMANCE (9), SERGIOS ROCKET (5), COMMODORE JUJON (6)

SUGGESTED BET: LENNY LINCOLN (2) to win.

RACE 2

HATTIES JEWEL (3) has very good gate speed and is drawn outside of two horses that generally seem to race best with a trail which should see her finding the front and hard to catch from there. She was a strong winner three starts ago when leading all the way.

PEEJAY MACK (1) took a trail last start and battled away well there for a placing. She looks likely to secure another good run from the perfect draw and shouldn’t be far away at the finish.

MULLUM DOC (5) worked very hard two starts ago when still able to score after sitting without cover and setting a strong tempo. Last start he led and appeared to have every chance there in an effort that probably didn’t quite back up his impressive win. His best is certainly good enough.

FIREBOLT (7) looks likely to secure an economical run in this race. May be shuffled back on the pegs early and will need luck.

SELECTIONS: HATTIES JEWEL (3), PEEJAY MACK (1), MULLUM DOC (5), FIREBOLT (7)

SUGGESTED BET: HATTIES (3) to win.

RACE 3

FRANKIE FEROCIOUS (5) is a classy horse and has shown at his best he can match it with the best having won a Chariots Of Fire. His more recent efforts haven’t been up to his best and he returns in this race following a moderate trial.

SCARED STIFF (3) is having his first run for the stable of Jack Butler in this race and finds what looks to be a very suitable race given the handicaps. If he can step away cleanly and find the front he would become the horse to beat.

PETES SAID SO (6) is one of the horses coming off solid handicaps in this race but he is classy in this company and isn’t out of contention with a clean getaway. He last raced in QLD through his previous Inter Dominion campaign and had good success there running some competitive races.

MADRIGAL (1) generally steps away well from the stand start and can secure a good run. She follows speed well and can be in the finish again.

SELECTIONS: FRANKIE FEROCIOUS (5), SCARED STIFF (3), PETES SAID SO (6), MADRIGAL (1)

SUGGESTED BET:

RACE 4

HOLME BOY (4) returned to QLD last start and was good enough to lead and win in solid time over the 2040 journey. He looks a chance of finding the front again in this race and if he does then he looks the one to beat.

ITS BACK PAGE NEWS (6) led and over raced badly in her last two starts before giving ground late. She is a quality horse at her best and is suited in this company. Should be right in the finish if she can do everything right.

GOODTIME CRACKER (7) starts from a poor draw inside the back row on return from a spell. Trialled up nicely running second in what was a very strong mile rate for the grade in a recent trial.

NAUTIE GALVINATOR (9) hasn’t quite been at his absolute best in recent outings. His best is good enough to figure in a race of this nature.

SELECTIONS: HOLME BOY (4), ITS BACK PAGE NEWS (6), GOODTIME CRACKER (7), NAUTIE GALVINATOR (9)

SUGGESTED BET:

RACE 5

BANFF (9) clearly brings the best form into this race having not missed the placings his last five starts and won two of those races. He starts from an outside back row draw in this race but has good speed and can close strongly from the back.

SALLY EM (3) has been racing well since landing in QLD having scored a solid recent win closing from a long way back and winning by a comfortable margin. Draws to advantage over a number of key rivals but will need a few things in her favour given the class of horses she is taking on.

TE RAPA (8) is first up in QLD and looks a big query runner. On NZ form should be very competitive in a race of this nature and shouldn’t be far away from the trailing draw.

KODA DA MODA (7) starts from an awkward draw inside the back row in this race. Was an impressive second placing two runs ago when closing strongly before not having much luck last start getting a long way back in a dash home.

SELECTIONS: BANFF (9), SALLY EM (3), TE RAPA (8), KODA DA MODA (7)

SUGGESTED BET:

RACE 6

JAY TEE TYRON (2) took on a trial last week where he went well to run second behind Millwood Brooklyn. He looks suited in this company and he draws to advantage over his key rivals. If he can lead he is the one to beat.

JUSTROLLINGAROUND (5) worked hard to get across to the pegs last start before handing over there to Sporty Zara and running a solid third. This race looks easier and she has good speed making her versatile.

BEACH MAGIC (3) was a better effort last start when sitting outside of Artistic Saint and battling away for a good second. His best is definitely good enough for a race of this nature but he seems to mix his form. Can get forward from the draw.

TOMMY BLIGH (8) hasn’t quite been at his absolute best recently while unsuited in his recent races. He is likely to secure a very good run through at the start of this race and can be an improver with a good run.

SELECTIONS: JAY TEE TYRON (2), JUSTROLLINGAROUND (5), BEACH MAGIC (3), TOMMY BLIGH (8)

SUGGESTED BET: JAY TEE TYRON (2) to win.

RACE 7

PERFECT FEELING (2) has good gate speed and looks to have found a race he can lead in. He hasn’t scored since his dominant trot rods victory in April. If he brings his best and is able to control things out in front he is likely to prove very hard to catch.

ARMA SPORTSGIRL (7) is having her first run for the stable of Jonah Hutchinson after what was a brilliant trial for a horse of this class beaten just 39.6 metres in a mile rate of 1.54.9. Although she looks clearly the best horse in the race she draws poorly inside the back row and looks set to find traffic. If she gets any luck she will be hard to hold out.

MISS HATTIE (4) ran a solid race last start when fourth behind Sheza Lenny. This looks one of the easier races she has contested in some time and can be running on late.

HEAVENLY WISDOM (5) drew poorly last start in a solid race over the 2040 and just couldn’t get into the race there. This looks a much weaker contest and she can be running on if the tempo suits.

SELECTIONS: PERFECT FEELING (2), ARMA SPORTSGIRL (7), MISS HATTIE (4), HEAVENLY WISDOM (5)

SUGGESTED BET: PERFECT FEELING (2) to win.
