RACE 1

ROCKET CITY (1) likely has the gate speed to dictate in the early stages of the race and has options given he is stepping up to the 2138 for the first time in QLD although it should be of no concern having been competitive against WAs best 2 and 3YOs over this journey or further. He wasn’t suited last start when wide on the track late after starting on the back row in a race Jordy won in a near 1.50 mile rate.

MAJOR HOT (3) took on the 4YO Championship last start and was second to one of the top 4YOs The Janitor after showing gate speed before taking a trail. He has good gate speed but might not have quite enough to find the lead in this race. If he can secure a good run he should be in the finish.

LUX AETERNA (4) was looking for runs in behind them last start in the Group 1 Golden Girl behind Eye Keep Smiling. She was forced to race off the pegs two starts ago in the Rising Sun Consolation behind Captains Mistress who led and turned it into a dash home which made it difficult for horses off the pegs in that race including Lux Aeterna. She has great gate speed and should secure a good run in the race.

AMAMI (8) should get a good run through at the start on the back of Rocket City who is likely to hold a forward position in the race. He was a dominant winner two starts ago when working clear and running over the top late.

SELECTIONS: ROCKET CITY (1), MAJOR HOT (3), LUX AETERNA (4), AMAMI (8)

SUGGESTED BET: ROCKET CITY (1) to win.

RACE 2

VINSANITY (6) worked hard last start outside of Dragon before finishing third to a horse that had sat off the speed in Our Sunset Delight. He draws wide again in this race and might be left to do the work but showed last start that’s something he is capable of doing in a fast mile rate.

CHECHNOUTTHETALENT (3) hit the line strongly two runs ago finishing fifth not beaten far by Derby runner Mac Bon. He then took on the consolation of the Rising Sun where he appeared to have something to give late with nowhere to go. Can secure a good run from a low draw and seems to be progressing each start he races.

ITS ELECTRIFYING (4) has brilliant gate speed and might be looking to launch over in the early stages. He ran in the Derby and Oaks consolation last start and didn’t appear to run out the 2680 there when getting tired in the last 150 metres to miss third and run fourth. He will be suited stepping back to the 1660.

BEACHRIDE (2) showed good gate speed to lead two starts ago before controlling things and being run down by Amami in a race he appeared to have every chance. He might be suited back to the mile here.

SELECTIONS: VINSANITY (6), CHECHNOUTTHETALENT (3), ITS ELECTRIFYING (4), BEACHRIDE (2)

SUGGESTED BET:

RACE 3

REGAZZO DI TILLY (3) was a winner three starts ago at this track and trip when leading all the way and winning by a decisive margin. He was luckless in the Redcliffe Cup when starting off the inside back row in the stand which followed up a huge effort in the Flashing Red racing wide and not being beaten far. He has good early speed and might look to press onto the front again in this race.

CONEY ISLAND LOU (1) is a former WA horse that seemingly mixed his form. He might be suited racing over the mile at Albion Park and has trialled up reasonably well in preparation for his first up run in this race. He takes on a few much higher rated horses in this open class race but off his trial behind The Vicar Of Dibley he shouldn’t be too far away.

FRANKIE FEROCIOUS (4) took on heats of the Inter Dominion his last two starts and had no luck in those races after drawing poorly on the back row. He is a horse with brilliant gate speed but has been going well sat up for one run and that may be how he is driven again in this race.

RIPP (8) should get a good run through at the start on the back of a horse with decent gate speed. He led last start and was run down by Speak The Truth in a fast mile rate of 1.52.5. He can be running on late if the runs appear.

SELECTIONS: REGAZZO DI TILLY (3), CONEY ISLAND LOU (1), FRANKIE FEROCIOUS (4), RIPP (8)

SUGGESTED BET: REGAZZO DI TILLY (3) to win.

RACE 4

GUS (7) was very impressive in the Inter Dominion final last start running fourth behind Arcee Pheonix and running across the line with classy Kiwi trotter Oscar Bonavena. He has high speed and despite drawing widest over the mile he should be extremely hard to best however the race plays out in the early stages.

ZEALOUS SPUR (8) had no luck in heats and the final of the Inter Dominion. He was checked in the Final and made a break through and essentially took no part as a result. He draws awkwardly inside the back row although he does follow out a horse with gate speed and if the luck comes he can be thereabouts.

LOVE GUN (5) ran into third in the first heat of the Inter Dominion behind Parisian Artiste. Has been impressive in QLD since joining the Dixon stable. He draws wide in this race and will need a few things to go his way but is racing well enough.

HAMMER SON (1) impressed in the first round of inter Dominion heats three starts ago when zipping off the gate before taking a sit and not being beaten too far there. He might be suited stepping back to the 1660 in this race.

SELECTIONS: GUS (7), ZEALOUS SPUR (8), LOVE GUN (5), HAMMER SON (1)

SUGGESTED BET: GUS (7) to win.

RACE 5

TICK A LOCK (8) was very well driven last start to secure the leaders back trail before zipping up the sprint lane to run down Coastal Babe. She draws awkwardly in this race inside the back row and will need luck at the right time to get into the race. If the gaps appear at the right time she can win again.

LA DERNIERE (9) did plenty of early work last start when she got too keen at Redcliffe over the middle trip in what was one of the quickest first halves of a race I can remember over that trip. She steps back to the 1660 at Albion Park and draws the back line which may allow her to settle a bit better in the early stages.

GOTTA HAV ME (1) sat behind La Derniere last start who was over racing badly and did well to hang on for second. She has good early speed and will have options after the start whether she elects to hold or hand over the front. Should be thereabouts again.

SWEET ADDIITON (6) hit the line strongly behind Tick A Loch last start after getting back in the run. She draws wide again in this race and may get a long way back again. If the speed is on she could be dangerous late.

SELECTIONS: TICK A LOCK (8), LA DERNIERE (9), GOTTA HAV ME (1), SWEET ADDIITON (6)

SUGGESTED BET: LA DERNIERE (9) to win.

RACE 6

EVER ART (2) is a classy mare that returns to racing in QLD in this race and clearly looks a standout in a Band 5. She is likely to work her way to the front eventually and if she does she should be too good for her rivals in this race having taken on the likes of Eye Keep Smiling and Steno a few starts ago in NSW.

REASON TO SHINE (1) was a last start winner in fast time at Redcliffe after sitting behind Mighty Jolt and using the sprint lane to score. She should secure a great run in this race on the back of Ever Art and off her last start effort she can be in the money again.

SWEET AGENDA (9) got a long way back in the run last start behind Sweet Mia in what became a dash home and hit the line powerfully. She looks well placed in this company and can be running into it late.

BEV THE GOAT (8) has been taking on slightly easier races. She ran well two starts ago at this track over the 2138 behind Amami. Should secure a good run again in this race and can be thereabouts late.

SELECTIONS: EVER ART (2), REASON TO SHINE (1), SWEET AGENDA (9), BEV THE GOAT (8)

SUGGESTED BET: REASON TO SHINE (1) to place.

RACE 7

PLATINUM JEWEL (4) impressed last start when racing outside the leader at Redcliffe after working hard early and battling on for a good second. She appears well placed in division B of a qualifying race and has options early whether she looks to push for the lead or looks for cover. However it plays out early she looks hard to beat.

BROOKFIELDS BEAUTY (5) found the lead last start and was a fraction disappointing when running tenth there. She steps back to the 1660 which could be the key to success for her and draws the front row which could allow her to find a prominent position in the race.

IDEAL ASSASSIN (2) has brilliant gate speed which is seemingly her biggest asset in her races. She wasn’t beaten too far in a race they went 1.53.8 last start and she was first up from a spell there. She will be better for that run and should be hard to beat in a race she should be close enough.

FIREBOLT (1) has moderate gate speed albeit in a race where there does look to be some speed on early. She toom a trail four starts ago at this track and was able to close best to score over Rockon Rocky. Can look to do similar in this race from the same draw.

SELECTIONS: PLATINUM JEWEL (4), BROOKFIELDS BEAUTY (5), IDEAL ASSASSIN (2), FIREBOLT (1)

SUGGESTED BET: PLATINUM JEWEL (4) to win.

Slide8_32.png

RACE 8

BOTTICELLI (3) got back in the run last start before hitting the line powerfully late to score an impressive win rating fast closing sectionals. He draws the front line this time and shouldn’t be too far away however things play out early. A repeat of his effort last start would see him very hard to beat.

EAGLESPRIDE (2) draws favourably in this race. He is first up from a spell which looks a query but he does start his campaign on a Saturday night which may be an indication he is going well behind the scenes given he is eligible for considerably easier races.

EPIC ERNIE (4) was doing his best work through the line last start in a dash home over the last half. He wasn’t beaten far in fast time his run prior and looks suited stepping back into this company. If there’s enough speed on early he can be running into it late again.

ARKIN WICKED (5) took on a much stronger race last start where they rated fast time and he was off the pegs. He will find this a lot easier and if the race is run to suit he can be running into the finish late.

SELECTIONS: BOTTICELLI (3), EAGLESPRIDE (2), EPIC ERNIE (4), ARKIN WICKED (5)

SUGGESTED BET: BOTTICELLI (3) to win.

RACE 9

DEUS EX (3) drops back in grade into this race and looks the clear standout class runner. He has brilliant gate speed and might be able to launch onto the lead in the early stages before having options. Given he is back in grade he may elect to hold up and attempt to lead all the way off the back of an impressive run last start when sixth behind Speak The Truth.

OUR VINCENT CAN GOGH (6) was forced to do the work without cover last start and was well beaten by Our Goat. He was impressive his run prior when working through the middle of the race before finishing second to Rocket City in a fast mile rate of 1.51.6. He draws widest in this race which appears to set him a tough task.

STORYTELLER (1) showed glimpses of brilliance in WA without having put together consistent good performances. He has resumed fairly in QLD making a break first up and impressing when not beaten far there before a solid fourth last start in a strong race. He will be better on the pegs in this race and should be thereabouts.

MASTER CHARLES (5) is a horse with high speed that is suited to the small field meaning he won’t be far away in the run. He has very good gate speed but does draw outside of Deus Ex who is equally as fast off the gate and down in grade.

SELECTIONS: DEUS EX (3), OUR VINCENT CAN GOGH (6), STORYTELLER (1), MASTER CHARLES (5)

SUGGESTED BET: DEUS EX (3) to win.

RACE 10

GOLDEN FIRE (2) took on the Golden Girl last start and was hitting the line hard late into fifth. She draws favourably in this race she has great gate speed and might be able to work her way to the lead before having options. Should be hard to beat in this race dropping back in grade.

MIKI MAGIC (4) raced in the Golden Girl last start and was well beaten there finishing last beaten 33 metres. She has been just fair since returning from a spell three starts ago. Her best efforts are good enough to figure in this race.

JEWEL MELODY (5) ran eight last start in the Golden Girl after starting from a wide gate. She draws wide again in this race but it is only a small field and she shouldn’t be too far away.

AURORA JOY (3) took on a weaker race last start where they ran along and she finished over the top to win well. She steps up into this stronger race but should be suited by the small field and would appreciate a genuine early tempo.

SELECTIONS: GOLDEN FIRE (2), MIKI MAGIC (4), JEWEL MELODY (5), AURORA JOY (3)

SUGGESTED BET: GOLDEN FIRE (2) to win.
