RQ statement on the Q2 Parklands
Racing Queensland advises that Saturday’s tentatively rescheduled Brisbane Cup feature meeting has now been abandoned.
On Monday, the Queensland Greyhound Racing Club oversaw the refurbishment of the track which was graded and power harrowed to a depth of 150mm.
This evening, Queensland Racing Integrity Commission Stewards conducted an inspection with an independent track assessor and determined that it was not suitable for tomorrow’s (10/7) trials to be conducted.
As a result, the Brisbane Cup feature meeting will not proceed as it was contingent on the successful staging of those trials ahead of Saturday.
As a matter of priority, RQ and the QGRC will now prioritise delivering a consistent and suitable racing surface before meetings are rescheduled on the Q2 Parklands.
Under RQ’s abandoned race meeting compensation procedure, unpaid prize money for Saturday night’s scheduled features will be evenly distributed between the connections of the eligible greyhounds.
RQ will explore alternate programming options for upcoming meetings whilst the Q2 Parklands undergoes further remediation.
