Rockhampton hobby trainer Shane Sigvart has cast aside any distance concerns for Nondisclosure as he hunts for one of his biggest wins of his career in the Cairns Amateur Cup at Cannon Park on Saturday.

Nondisclosure is the latest addition to the Sigvart stable who is back training following a health scare a few years ago.

Sigvart gave away training for almost two years ago after “a couple” of heart attacks in 2022.

He has since made a full recovery and works full-time as a subcontractor for the NDIS and now has a team of four in work.

“I had one horse when I first came back but I’ve now got four and a couple of babies are coming which will make it six and I don’t want any more,” Sigvart said.

“I got Nondisclosure when his owners, One Syndications, rang me to take him."

Sigvart, who was a former butcher, is delighted with Nondisclosure since his stable debut when he finished fourth to the Olivia Cairns-trained Fire King in a 1400 metre Benchmark race in Rockhampton on July 29.

“He carried 62.5kgs that day and he only just failed,” Sigvart said.

“It wasn’t an overly strong race but he just keeps improving.

“It’s probably a big ask to travel up from Rockhampton but I’m overjoyed with the way he’s going.

“His work has been fantastic and the tempo over 1900 metres won’t be as strong.

“He’s never raced at Cairns but I think he’ll handle it and the trip doesn’t bother me as he’ll eventually run 2000 metres.”

Sigvart’s biggest win as a trainer was with I Am Boss in the Mackay Lightning in 2017.

“The Lightning in Mackay has been my biggest win but this would be up there if he can win,” Sigvart said.

“This race is probably on a par with the Mackay Lightning.”

Another notable horse Sigvart trained was former South Australian sprinter Chezblack who won eight races between 2019 and 2021.

Sigvart believes the Cairns Amateur Cup has attracted a strong field and named three dangers to Nondisclosure.

“It’s a strong field. Stadium Of Light is one of the main dangers along while Vincenzo who is racing well as is John Joseph,” Sigvart said.

‘But, if Nondisclosure can win, he should get into the Cairns Cup next start.”
