RACE 1

SQUAMISH (6) is having his first career start in this race. He is the full sibling to dominant 2YO Trotter Kicking Horse. He trialled well recently when finishing fourth behind Five O’Clock Gerry. If he can do everything right on debut he should be a good hope in this race.

MAROON BELLS (1) wasn’t beaten far last start after stepping nicely and leading in the early stages when finishing fourth behind Ahundredplus. She is generally a safe quick beginner which is a big advantage in a race of this nature around the tight circuit at Marburg. She can prove hard to catch in this race.

DORA LEE (2) brings some of the better form into this race having run 8 placings so far in her career. She made a break at her latest race start and has trialled a number of times since where she performed well enough to requalify. If she does everything right this time she should be thereabouts.

CARPOPHORUS (4) has been unplaced so far in 6 career starts to date. He has taken on some much stronger races including a 7th behind Laydownluna at Albion Park in the Somerset Farms Springboard Final for the 3YO Trotters. Manners appear to be a work in progress for this horse but he does appear to have the ability to take this race out.

SELECTIONS: SQUAMISH (6), MAROON BELLS (1), DORA LEE (2), CARPOPHORUS (4)

SUGGESTED BET: SQUAMISH (6) to win.

RACE 2

HAMMER SON (3) looks a clear standout on class in this race and appears quite favourably handicapped coming off just 10 metres in this race. His latest stand start he was seventh behind Sheza Chance who has been in excellent form in recent starts. If he can step away safely and find the leader he would become the one to beat.

SUPER SERVICE (2) can begin quickly from the stand start and may be suited racing around Marburg if he can find a forward position in the race. He worked hard two runs ago early setting a strong tempo before fading late in a race taken out by Call Me Trouble.

DARCYS FIREBALL (4) took on the pacers last start and performed fairly there when finishing midfield. He was forced to sit without cover two starts ago at Albion Park and battled away well to finish sixth in what was a solid time for the trotters. If he can find a position up on speed he should be hard to beat.

LOCHINVAR SON (1) is a newcomer to the stable of Tim Gillespie and is having his first start in QLD in this race. He brings solid Victorian form into this race and with a safe getaway can look to make the most of the handicap advantage in this race.

SELECTIONS: HAMMER SON (3), SUPER SERVICE (2), DARCYS FIREBALL (4), LOCHINVAR SON (1)

SUGGESTED BET: HAMMER SON (3) to win.

RACE 3

CASCATA (5) ran an eye catching second two starts ago when flashing into it late not beaten far by Mill An Eyre. She then made a mistake last time out and was tailed off. She has previously done a few things wrong from the mobile but if she can bring her best manners she should be hard to beat in this race.

VOLTAIN (3) has shown gate speed previously and may be able to find a forward position in this race. She has been placed in her last two outings including a good second to Whirlwind Wilbur. She generally does her best work when able to find something to follow in her races and if she is able to cross to the lead she may look for cover.

LIZZIES SON (6) is having his first start for Al Barnes having trialled well recently at Marburg when not beaten far by Buster Dan. He appears to have the speed to hold a position early and should get a good run through at the start drawn to follow out a gate speed horse in Dicko Dixon. If the luck comes at the right time he can figure

DICKO DIXON (1) appeared to have good gate speed in Victoria. He is having his first start for new trainer Peter McKay and draws ideally in this race to have options in the early stages.

SELECTIONS: CASCATA (5), VOLTAIN (3), LIZZIES SON (6), DICKO DIXON (1)

SUGGESTED BET: CASCATA (5) to win.

RACE 4

ALADDIN SANE (3) has a key handicap advantage in some of his rivals in this race starting off the front. He was a winner four starts ago when starting off a 20 metre handicap at Albion Park. He ran home sharp times in that race and proved too good. If he can begin quickly he can look to get forward and race in a prominent position in this race.

HEAD EM UP (6) had one singular start with John Justice in Victoria when making a break and being well beaten. He’s since returned to QLD and has trialled twice. He made a break in his first trial back before scoring a dominant trial win over Subtle Kimba. He will need to bring his best manners.

CALL ME TROUBLE (7) has always been a horse with a lot of ability but has proven enigmatic at times. He was a winner four starts ago after getting things wrong at the start. He ran on strongly late and rated good time for the grade. If he can step safely and position up close enough he should be hard to beat.

GLOBAL FLIGHT (9) hasn’t been able to put together long campaigns but has always shown good ability and generally seems to run his best races when fresh. He faces a tough handicap in this race but he generally begins fast and the 2550 journey should allow him every chance to get into the race.

SELECTIONS: ALADDIN SANE (3), HEAD EM UP (6), CALL ME TROUBLE (7), GLOBAL FLIGHT (9)

SUGGESTED BET: ALADDIN SANE (3) to win.

RACE 5

MUFASA METRO (5) was able to lead and run along last start at Albion Park over the 1660 and was only beaten by what may have been the best run by a Trotter ever around Albion Park with Not As Promised sitting without cover and rating an incredible 1.52.4 mile rate setting a new track record. There’s no Not As Promised in this race and he looks likely to be able to work his way to the front which would see him extremely hard to run down in this company.

MCGEE (2) has good ability and has been thereabouts nearly every run this campaign. He is making a big step up in grade in this race taking on the likes of Mufasa Metro and Love Gun who have both performed well in Inter Dominions. He should be able to work to the lead early before having options from there.

LOVE GUN (4) was a dominant winner five starts ago when leading all the way from the stand start. He was impressive through his latest Inter Dominion campaign appearing to seamlessly make the step up to racing at Grand Circuit level having been a smart trotter as a juvenile horse. He hasn’t had the best of luck in recent starts and should be hard to beat with the right run into this race.

BERRIESANDCHERRIES (6) ran well last start from a good gate in a race they set a new track record for the trotters. She looks likely to secure a good run through early on the pegs and can be running into it late when the gaps likely appear over the 2550m trip.

SELECTIONS: MUFASA METRO (5), MCGEE (2), LOVE GUN (4), BERRIESANDCHERRIES (6)

SUGGESTED BET: MUFASA METRO (5) to win.

RACE 6

OURPETABILT (5) was first up from a spell last start when scoring an impressive victory closing nicely to get over the top of Manifest The Billi. She has since trialled well at Albion Park and is likely to have derived benefit from her first up outing and recent trials and should be nearing peak fitness. With a safe getaway she can be hard to beat in this race.

DOWN SOUTH DAISY (3) led and handed over two starts ago to Laydownluna in an impressive effort which would see her hard to beat in this race. She hasn’t started since late August which appears a query. If she is fit and ready to go in this race she should be one of the hardest to beat in this race.

BUSTER DAN (1) hasn’t started for over a month since he made a break at Albion Park and was sent back to the trials. He has since trialled well enough winning a recent trial at Marburg showing he should have no problems getting around the track. If he can begin well he has the ability to figure in a race of this nature.

JUSTABITLIKESULLY (2) has been able to run third his last two outings including a good third behind Ahundredplus last time out when finishing off well once clear. He is well handicapped again in this race and is generally a safe beginner. If he can secure a good run on the pegs he should be thereabouts again.

SELECTIONS: OURPETABILT (5), DOWN SOUTH DAISY (3), BUSTER DAN (1), JUSTABITLIKESULLY (2)

SUGGESTED BET: OURPETABILT (5) to win.

RACE 7

WHIRLWIND WILBUR (5) is a horse that has always shown good ability and really seems to be putting it all together in his recent starts. He was able to work to the lead last start at Albion Park and proved too good there leading all the way to beat Voltain. He appears well handicapped in this race coming off just 10 metres.

EN MASSE (1) stepped to the lead two starts ago before handing over to Daimyo and running a solid second. She was then close to 2 months between runs when starting last start and is likely to have derived plenty of benefit from that outing. If she can step to the lead she will have options.

CROOKWELL EYES (3) ran a good second last start after starting from a 20 metre handicap at Albion Park behind Ahundredplus. He has been racing well this campaign having scored two wins in the month of August both from the stand start. He should step away well and can figure with the right run.

NATTY PAGGER (6) is rarely far away in his races and looks quite well placed in this race coming off just 10 metres in this race against rivals he has previously given bigger starts to. He started off a 20 metre handicap last start and was running into it late to finish fifth at Albion Park.

SELECTIONS: WHIRLWIND WILBUR (5), EN MASSE (1), CROOKWELL EYES (3), NATTY PAGGER (6)

SUGGESTED BET: WHIRLWIND WILBUR (5) to win.

RACE 8

NONIS GOLD CLASS (6) was heavily backed on debut before having a few things go wrong. She then made a break at the start her second career start and was sent for a spell. Her recent trial was impressive behind Bangkok Deejay. She should be hard to beat in this race if able to bring her best manners.

SMOKEY BEAR (3) usually begins quickly from the stand start and has found himself up on speed a few times so far in his career when not beaten far without quite having been able to break through for a win. His latest effort came when running third in the Springboard Final behind Kicking Horse who has been the dominant 2YO trotter this year.

PRINCE KENNY (2) trialled up nicely recently at Menangle. He is having his first career start in this race which may be somewhat of a query coming from the bigger circuit at Menangle to race first time at Marburg. If he does everything right he appears to have the ability to run a good race.

SERENA LOVE (5) ran well on debut when finishing second to Hypnotize me despite doing things wrong in the early stages. She has since struggled to do things right having made a break in her following three starts. She appears to have ability but needs to bring improved manners if she is to figure in this race.

SELECTIONS: NONIS GOLD CLASS (6), SMOKEY BEAR (3), PRINCE KENNY (2), SERENA LOVE (5)

SUGGESTED BET: NONIS GOLD CLASS (6) to win.
