Townsville trainer Rhonda Essery has revealed she will breed with Baroski once her track career winds up.

The three-year-old bitch has 10 wins from 67 starts going into the QGOLD Final at Townsville on Tuesday night.

Essery believes it is her unflappable nature which has led to her track success and she is confident this will translate to good results at stud when her chasing days conclude.

“We’re going to breed with her when she’s finished. I say - ‘she would be one I would breed with’ - because she’s been doing so well since she’s come up here (from Darren Russell in Ipswich),” Essery said.

“I think it’s just as hard to win a race up here as it is in Brisbane.”

Baroski has triumphed in two of her past six starts.

Essery said there wasn’t much that bothers her fawn bitch ahead of the $15,680 feature over 498 metres on Tuesday.

“She’s a beautiful kennel dog. She just goes with the flow. If I had 20 of her in my kennel, I’d be happy,” Essery said.

“She’s had a few little niggling injuries, but we’re keeping on top of them.

“We’re really happy. The owners just think it (her form) is wonderful.”

Baroski started in impressive fashion from box six in her QGOLD heat, before a gutsy home-straight finish saw her prevail by a quarter-of-a-length.

She crossed the line in 28.84 seconds, edging out $1.28 favourite, Cool Bananas.

Making Baroski’s victory all the more impressive was the fact that Mark Partland’s three-year-old, second-placed dog has notched up 20 wins from 87 starts, for a total of $87,850 in prizemoney.

“Yes (it was courageous to hold out Cool Bananas). Fingers crossed, we’re all hoping she can do it again in the Final,” Essery said.

Baroski drew box one for the QGOLD Final, with Cool Bananas to start from lane four.

Essery will also have two-year-old bitch Pink Car engaged from box six.

At the rear of the pack on the back straight, Pink Car fought back to finish runner-up in her Pathways Final at Townsville last Friday.

She also did that while wearing a green rug.

“They’ve both drawn pretty good. Baroski, I’m hoping she’ll get away,” Essery said.

“But, Pink Car loves being out a bit wider. And, I think she’ll be chasing home hard like she always does.

“We bred her – she’s out of Naturally Gifted and she’s a My Redeemer pup.”
