Form Analysis: Redcliffe January 14

RACE 1 

ROCK NIEN (6) draws poorly in this race but does look quite well suited. He is a horse that has versatility in this type of grade and can do some work or be driven with a sit. He ran a good second last start and can go well again.

ALWAYS LOCKSLEY (2) was left to do a lot of work last start and battled on well enough into third over the 2040. The key to his race this time is being able to find the front which is a position he has had good success in over this journey in the past.

CHAMONIX (8) draws favourably in this race with a nice trailing draw on the back of a horse that is likely to press forward early. He will be hoping for a genuine tempo to be on and he can be closing into it late. 

SARGEANT (3) pressed forward last start and won well sitting without cover. He steps up in grade into this race and does draw quite well.

SUGGESTED BET: CHAMONIX (8) each way.

RACE 2 

THERESACHANCE (3) is a noted gate speed horse that loves to bowl along out in front which looks a possibility in this race. He has been taking on stronger races and should find this easier. If he can zip across early he will be hard to run down.

JET FORCE (2) isn’t a brilliant beginner but does get out reasonably and draws alongside the horse in this race with the most gate speed. If he is able to work across to the lead he would be hard to run down.

GLENLEDI BOY (5) secured a good run off the speed last start and was powering into it late to finish second. He usually does he best racing when driven in that manner where he can run on strongly late. 

VINCENT TIME (8) lands a good trailing draw in this race and should be close enough in the run. It looks a race likely to generate a solid early tempo which should allow him to be running on late.

RACE 3

GENTLE GIANT (1) has been in excellent form in recent starts scoring a good win two starts ago at this track when doing the work and proving too good. The 2040 start point should allow him to drive through and lead them up and he should be hard to run down.

GOOD WORD THAT (7) was able to secure a similar run last start to the one he is likely to secure in this race. He got a touch tired late to be beaten 5 metres but he is likely to have derived good benefit from that effort. If he can go slightly better he should be hard to beat.

SANDERS (8) didn’t have a huge amount of luck last start when forced wide at a crucial stage of the race. He draws to have options in this race with a good trailing draw and with the right run should be running on late. 

ROCK IT BABY (10) is rarely far away in his races having run third three times in his last five starts along with a good fourth. He often draws poorly and is left to do plenty of work in his races. He looks destined to be working again at some stage in this race given the outside back row draw but should still be very competitive.

RACE 4 

CAPTAIN OH CAPTAIN (9) looks set to secure the right run into this race and has been racing in consistent form in recent outings. He finished third behind Skippers Swan Song last start after securing a good run in the race 1 out 1 back. He should be running on again.

LULU LUCIFER (8) generally seems to do her best work when sat up for one run at them late. She ran on well last start in a stronger race behind Teachers Pet and Royal Princess and looks much better suited in this race. 

CRIME TIME (2) was shuffled back early last start and didn’t have the best of luck there when running on into second behind Feeling The Power. He should secure a good run from a favourable draw and he is racing well enough to figure.

THREE MACHS (5) has nearly been racing in career best form despite her older age. She powered into second late two starts ago and was a touch unlucky not to get out sooner as she likely would’ve won the race. She finds another suitable contest and if she secures the right run should be very hard to hold out.

RACE 5

MAYWYNS MIGHTY MAC (9) has been in very good form in recent starts. He looks to step back in grade into this race and draws to do no work early. His third to One Last Roll last start looks much better form than anything else in this race.

PADDYS DIAMOND (4) trialled up really nicely recently when scoring at this track beating Tequila En Ice. He should get a good run and can be running into this race late if the tempo suits.

ESTER JEAN (2) bounced back last start when scoring a good win closing over the top to score. Although she makes a big step up in grade into this race seemingly taking on better horses she had previously shown good gate speed

VINNIE NITRO (5) wasn’t able to get into the race last start which was taken out Smarter Than You who scored an impressive win rating a strong last half. She should be better suited in this field.

RACE 6 

AMILLIONCHANCES (5) has been able to run two consecutive seconds his last two starts and is starting to put things together. He often finds himself ODM as a result of early errors. He moves into gate 5 for this race and looks very well suited in this company.

IDEAL TIGER (8) has been in very consistent form. He ran on nicely last start. Behind Write About Angus. He should get a good run off the speed in this race and can be running into it late. 

SPORTY AZZ (9) ran a much better race last start when finishing second after coming from back in the field. This race looks likely to generate a good early tempo and he can be running on again late. 

BETTING BARON (2) has good gate speed and might be able to work to the early lead. He usually runs his best races up on speed and should be hard to run down again.

RACE 7

HES MY REASON (3) led last start and appeared a bit disappointing when finishing second there well beaten by Smarter Than You who is a horse that has always shown ability. If he can find the front again he should run a good race.

GREAT WHITE (1) showed good ability last time in and seemingly went best when driven for his sit sprint capacity. He proved too good for Our Aunty Penny in a recent trial which he is likely to have derived plenty of benefit from.

NEED NOT TO WARRY (9) has been building nicely and scored a well deserved win last time out when sitting without cover and just proving too good. He may need to do the work again but looks capable.

EBONY BELLE (6) draws awkwardly in this race and her last few outings haven’t been her absolute best efforts. She is a horse with ability and if she can recapture her better form she should be hard to beat.

RACE 8

SWIFTIE (1) has good gate speed and might be able to drive through and lead this race. She has been racing consistently and looks quite well suited in this company from the good draw.

TARIFF TIME (7) ran well in a recent trial behind Tactical Illusion in solid time. She scored a good win on debut when running over the top late. She should secure a good run in this race and can be hard to hold out.

MULLUM JUDITH (10) ran well to win two starts ago leading all the way before not having much luck last start. Should be better for the latest outing.

FIFTY EACH WAY (3) has been racing consistently without having been able to break through for another win. She isn’t seemingly a horse with a great deal of toughness and may need to be sat up and saved for one run at them late in this race.

RACE 9

SINKRATE (2) ran well last start securing a good run behind the speed and finishing off strongly. He’s scored two seconds in two starts and looks to potentially get his chance out in front in this race and could be hard to run down.

OUR CAPTAIN (5) appeared to have his chance to finish second last start when finishing a long way off Cherries On top. He didn’t seem to handle the tight circuit at Redcliffe when doing plenty wrong in the race. 

STARZZZONTHEWATER (9) didn’t have much luck last start when held up at a crucial stage in a race taken out by Saturday Dance. This looks a similar type of race and she lands the same draw. 

HAALAND (1) should get a good run behind the speed in this race from the good draw. He ran third in a similar race last start and appears to be working into some form.
