Form Analysis: Redcliffe January 21

RACE 1 

DEE TERROR (7) has been racing in good form in recent starts and is a horse that is seemingly quite well suited to being driven sit sprint. While he hasn’t been winning he hasn’t had a run as good as the one he may secure in this race potentially behind the leader. 

BARRETT (1) led last start and was able to hang on for third there. He is likely to be fitter this time and should be able to do enough to lead again. He usually goes well out in front and should be thereabouts.

MAYWYN TROUBADOUR (8) scored a good win over Missed Consequences three starts ago at this track and trip. He should get a good run off the speed in this race and if the race is run to suit he can be running on late. 

CHAMONIX (5) ran well again last start when making an early run into the race wide on the track and just finding two better. He would be suited by a truly run race and can be running on late again.

RACE 2 

STRIKEM (6) is clearly a standout on class and returns from a spell in this race having contested much stronger races in recent outings. He trialled recently beating My Ultimate Franco and Tactical Illusion in moderate time and is likely to have derived a lot of benefit from the outing. Although his best asset seems to be his speed he can likely be driven tough in this company and on his best should be winning.

SMARTER THAN YOU (2) has reasonable gate speed and may just be able to do enough to lead in the early stages of the race. He is a smart horse at his best and his win four starts ago suggested he was nearer his best which was followed by a third and two more wins. If he can lead he will then have options. 

CREDULOUS (1) was able to work clear at the right time and run down Studleigh Punter who had been able to put a break on the field turning for home. She is a horse that lacks gate speed which often sees her shuffled back. It is seemingly a bit easier to hold a position at Redcliffe given the shorter run into the first turn and that could allow her to muster up and hold the leaders back which would make her dangerous. 

LULU MAE (5) ran some impressive races rating fast times at Albion Park through 2025. She has had a spell and returns to racing in this race which looks a query. She will need a few things to her way.

RACE 3

OYSTER STRIDE (1) led last start and ran a solid second  there when beaten by Diego Delgado in solid time for this grade. He should be able to drive through and lead again and should be hard to run down. There may be a slight query on the distance but if he can control things he should be hard to beat.

ILLBEWATCHING (7) led two starts ago and despite looking under pressure a long way from home he was able to draw clear late and score a good win. He should get a more economical run in the early stages this time inside the back row and can be dangerous late. 

MISTER DELWIN (8) should get a good run off the speed in this race which is seemingly how he is best suited. He has been in excellent form having placed 4 of his last 5 starts. If the race is run upside down he should be running on strongly late.

PRINCE JOY (10) worked hard to lead last start before battling away for a solid second behind Littlemickey. He looks likely to need to do work at some stage in this race drawing outside the back row but does look ideally suited in this grade of race.

RACE 4 

OUR DOLLY (2) should be able to work to the lead in this race and from there is likely to be hard to run down. She led last start over the 2040 and was just run down late by the horse on her back Specialandiknowit. She finds a similar field and steps back to the 1780.

PINK RIVER DIAMOND (1) should secure a good run close to the speed in this race likely on the back of Our Dolly. He was well beaten by Aunty Frances last time out but did draw wide there and was taking on a much stronger race.

CONNIES SPIRIT (9) ran a good third two starts ago at this track. She races well at this track and trip and has high speed which should see her running into it late despite the poor draw. 

TRACER BULLET (7) draws less than ideally in this race inside the back row and is likely to be shuffled back on the pegs. He had a tough run last start when working to the breeze and running a gallant third.

SUGGESTED BET: OUR DOLLY (2) to win. 

RACE 5

GREAT WHITE (7) secured the ideal run on the leaders back and just ran straight by Hes My Reason to score an easy win. He draws behind Hes My Reason this time and looks set to secure a similar run. There may be some query whether Hes My Reason chooses to hand over to attempt to beat him.

HES MY REASON (1) has gate speed giving him options in this race. He wasn’t able to beat Great White last start when leading and as a result he may look to hand over to something to make life harder for the likely favourite in the race. 

TOUGH FIGHTER (10) was an impressive winner four starts ago at this track after drawing poorly. He draws poorly in this race and is first up from a spell which are both queries. He looks suited at this trip and has won at this track and trip before. 

POWER MOVE (8) has been racing below her best in recent outings having not figured in the placings since April of last year. She is getting back in grade and does look well suited in this field.

SELECTIONS: GREAT WHITE (7), HES MY REASON (1), TOUGH FIGHTER (10), POWER MOVE (8)

SUGGESTED BET: 

RACE 6 

HEAVENS BABY (7) should get a good run through on the back of Ghost Train and has been able to bounce back into some of better form. She ran good placings three and four starts ago before two midfield finishes. She should be much better suited back to the 1780. 

THREE MACHS (5) ran on strongly into second last start after securing a good run off the speed. She is generally a horse that does her best work when sat up and saved for one run at them which she should get the chance to do again in this race. 

ROSARITO (9) was up on the speed last start and could only manage a midfield finish. He could be better suited in this race sitting further from the speed and should be running on well.

GHOST TRAIN (1) has good early speed and from the inside draw should be able to drive through and lead. He generally does his best work at this track and trip and should give them something to catch.

SUGGESTED BET: HAVENS BABY (7) to win.

RACE 7

TWEEDY (5) looks the clear standout on class in this race. She started favourite two starts ago and was perhaps a touch disappointing there when appearing to have her chance. This race does look a lot easier and she is likely to go around a short priced favourite.

KONNYMARA (4) has good ability and is a capable sit sprinter. He draws quite awkwardly in this race and may get shuffled back. He should be running on late.

ESTER JEAN (1) ran a very good second last start when sustaining a long wide run on the track. She draws better in this race and should be able to drive through and lead before having options from there. 

EXCUSE TO COLLECT (3) led last start and was able to really control things out in front setting a moderate tempo. Unlikely to be able to lead this time but has seemingly gone well with a sit previously and should be thereabouts again.

RACE 8

THE LUVBUG (9) took on much stronger races last time in and was well beaten but still shapes as good form for a race of this nature. His sole win came at Albion Park but he did run placings at Redcliffe suggesting he handles the track well enough.

WICKED DE LIL (5) won last start in a similar type of field to break her maiden. She draws wide again and will need to show speed early to get across to the lead. If she can settle out in front she could give them something to catch.

LANEYS LAST (4) led three starts ago and was too good for Stay Dreamy and The Rizzler at Marburg who have both come out and won since and run well. She has ability and with the right run could figure in the money again.

FIFTY EACH WAY (8) ran well last start when finishing second at this track and appears to be closing in on another win following a number of placings. She does seemingly need a few things to go her way and cant make her own luck.

RACE 9

STARZZZONTHEWATER (3) was set a big task last start when burning hard early and through the middle. If he can secure a more economical trip this time he should be quite hard to beat in this company.

IM A RED HOT FOX (6) ran on strongly last start and looked the winner there before being run down late by Tiger Attack. Looks likely to get a long way back from the wide draw in this race and can be running on well again in this race. 

THREEOEIGHT (1) put in a much better run last start when finishing second at this track. He has moderate gate speed and if he can hold a forward position early in this race he should be very hard to beat.

TENGERRI (7) should get a good run through on the back of Threeeoeight. Has had plenty of chances to break through for a maiden win and looks a rough winning chance but has genuine place claims.
