Former stuntman Jeff Dunn concedes Glass Of Rose has been a frustration to train but is optimistic about her prospects on her home track at Beaudesert on Friday.

Glass Of Rose - a Tiffani Brooker mount - has won only two of her 28 starts despite Dunn rating her highly enough early in her career to tackle the Listed Gold Edition Plate, which was won by the Robert Heathcote-trained Abounding in 2023.

She also contested the $1 million Magic Millions QTIS race at the Gold Coast in 2024 when she finished 10th behind the Matthew Dunn-trained Boom Torque.

The five-year-old daughter of Shooting To Win steps out for her fourth start this campaign in the Benchmark 65 Handicap over 1400 metres and Dunn expects her to be one of the favourites.

Glass Of Rose is coming off a last start second to Davikar in a 1350 metre Benchmark race at Ipswich last month.

She previously beat one runner home behind the Tony and Maddysen Sears-trained Yellow Brick in the $1.5 million QTIS Open at the Gold Coast on January 10.

“She’s going well but she’s got a tendency to miss the start,” Dunn said.

“She missed the start by three lengths at her first start this campaign at Beaudesert then she had a wide gate in the Magic Millions race behind Yellow Brick but I thought it wasn’t a bad run.

“I didn’t expect her to lead at her last run at Ipswich when she ran second and she’s still eligible for a Class 2.”

Dunn expects another strong performance from Glass Of Rose who suffered from a few issues early in her career.

“She’s been thrown into some tough races in the past but she’s going well and I’m trying to get her confidence back,” he said.

“I’ve got a few plans for her coming up as I’d like to run her in some of the better fillies and mares’ races later on.”

Dunn was once a personal trainer and a stunt performer at the Australian Outback Spectacular on the Gold Coast before abandoning his profession to train.

He started training full-time about five years ago and now has a team of 12 horses in work at Beaudesert but has room for more.

His best horse to date has been Sha Of Gomer who won the Listed Ramornie Handicap at Grafton and the Rockhampton Newmarket last year.

The six-year-old also finished second in last year’s Listed Eye Liner Stakes at Ipswich and was placed in the Listed Weetwood at Toowoomba last September.
