Eagle Farm gallops towards Queensland Day celebrations
Eagle Farm Racecourse will turn maroon on June 6, joining a mega list of sporting celebrations for Queensland Day.
The $700,000 Group 1 Queensland Oaks over 2200m will take centre stage, coinciding with Queensland Day celebrations.
Racegoers are being encouraged to wear maroon to the event to help mark Queensland’s 167th birthday.
The event joins a stacked day of Queensland’s best sports teams going head-to-head across NRL, AFL and Netball in celebration of the Sunshine State.
The Broncos and Titans will play at Suncorp Stadium, the Cowboys and Dolphins will do battle in Townsville, the Brisbane Lions will take on the Suns at the Gold Coast, and the Queensland Firebirds will host the Sunshine Coast Lightning.
More sporting events are expected to be added to the Queensland Day celebrations, putting the state at the centre of the sporting universe on June 6.
It cements Queensland’s place as the home of Australian sport on the way to the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Oaks Day will form part of a bumper 2026 Queensland Racing Carnival.
Taking centre stage from May 2 to July 4, more than $28 million in prize money will go on the line as part of the nation’s premier Winter Carnival, headlined by nine million-dollar races and 55 black-type features – including eight Group 1 events – across 11 race meetings.
