The Q track update
Racing Queensland advises that a number of trial sand plots will be installed on the QStraight track this week to perform controlled track studies.
The test plots will be positioned between the 350 and 300-metre starts on the QStraight, towards the outer rail, ensuring there is no disruption to racing operations.
During The Q's regular maintenance regime, assessments have identified that vertical water movement within the track profile is currently restricted, with moisture generally remaining within the upper layer during certain weather conditions, such as extended periods of light rain.
The test plots will enable direct assessment under the specific environmental, drainage, maintenance and usage conditions unique to The Q.
The Q’s three tracks continue to be suitable for racing. Subject to the results of the testing process, any improvements will be progressively applied across the three tracks at The Q to further enhance surface consistency and weather resilience.
Installation works are expected to take approximately two weeks to complete, and there will be no racing or trials conducted over the test plots.
Whilst every effort will be made to mitigate impacts on racing and trials, RQ and the QGRC apologises in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.
