Former housemates Corey Geran and Grant Goodrum are hoping their successful partnership as trainer and owner will continue at Warwick on Tuesday.

Corey Geran became a close friend of Goodrum when the young trainer was living and studying at university at the Sunshine Coast five years ago.

Their friendship continued when Corey Geran returned to his hometown of Toowoomba to train in partnership with his mother Kylie.

However, it wasn’t long before Goodrum and his partner Samantha Bird teamed up to form GG Racing and sent several horses to the Geran stable to train.

GG Racing now has around 30 horses in work with 'Team Geran' who's stable has grown to 70 in work.

“I’ve known Grant and Sammy for a long time from the days I was studying for a business degree at the Sunshine Coast,” co-trainer Corey Geran said.

“We have around 70 horses in work now and I’d say Grant and Sammy are part owners in about 30 of them.”

Co-trainer Corey Geran and Goodrum will team up again at Warwick on Tuesday with Blue Chip Girl in the Benchmark 65 Handicap over 1500 metres and Hell To The Line in the Maiden Plate over 1500 metres.

“I think Hell To The Line is our best of the day,” Corey Geran said.

Hell To The Line has started eight times for five placings including three seconds at his past three starts.

A three-year-old son of Hellbent, Hell To The Line caught the eye with a barn storming finish from near last to go under by one length to the Kevin Kemp-trained Kids Inthe Kitchen in a 1680 metre maiden at Ipswich on April 6.

Corey Geran also expects a strong showing from Blue Chip Girl who clashes with stablemate Marenaro in the Benchmark 65 Handicap.

Blue Chip Girl is coming off a last start fourth to the Jack Bruce-trained Arduous in a 1600 metre Benchmark race at Gatton on April 10.

Marenaro is resuming and hasn’t started since finishing eighth in a 2200 metre Benchmark race at the Sunshine Coast in late November of last year.

“I’d have to favour Blue Chip Girl as she wasn’t suited by the small track at Gatton last time,” Corey Geran said.

“She needs a lot to go her way and Gatton was just too small and she’ll like Warwick a lot better.

“I’m expecting Marenaro to run well also as he’s had a good spell and won first-up at Warwick last time.

“I think he’s up to winning a metro race in town one day but he’s a 2000 metre horse.”
