RACE ONE

A neat race to open the day where despite the small field, there are some very progressive types to battle. FIRE AND PASSION (6) returns from a NSW Derby campaign where he was 2nd in a heat before finishing midfield to HOLLYWOOD STRIP in the final. Despite the wide gate his record is imposing and he can return in style.

 ALWAYS B COOL (2)
was impressive on debut with a 2nd behind MOVE IT LOU when only 3m away but with a big margin back to 3rd. Franking that performance with a stylish second up victory, he burrowed through, held the front, dictated and scored. He has the gate to challenge.

 SHANKYS SHOT (3)
was first up on this side of the Tasman with a 3rd behind BARSBY and with the added fitness and experience cashed in last time with a narrow margin. Added fitness helps.

SELECTIONS: FIRE AND PASSION (6), ALWAYS B COOL (2), SHANKYS SHOT (3)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE TWO

AARDIES A STAR (1) is a newcomer to the Turpin stable arriving from the South Island of NZ. Starting from this same gate in a recent trial against some more experienced types, she was allowed to balance early before charging home for a smart win. She can convert it to race day.

 GO MINNIE (8)
has been runner-up in both career starts to date, the latest when sent to the post as fav and chasing home behind the smart winner HARPER DELIGHT. With the chance to potentially be on the leader’s back, she looks like a challenger if there is to be one.

BET HES SWEET (5) is a nicely bred gelding on debut for the Turpin stable. By the champion sire Sweet Lou, he is the first foal of the 10-win mare A Rainbow Delight. With a smart preparatory trial, he stays under watch.

 JUST SONNY (2)
has been to the races twice and can look to exploit his race experience where he draws to the inside of four debutants. Grabbing the bronze last start behind BLACKJACK SAM, he can join in here.

SELECTIONS:
AARDIES A STAR (1), GO MINNIE (8), BET HES SWEET (5), JUST SONNY (2),
 SUGGESTED BET:
AARDIES A STAR (1) to win

RACE THREE

The 50m tape is a big impost to negotiate but the three starts produced by NORTHERN HEIGHTS (10) since returning from a let up suggest he is not far off. Starting from outside the second line last start under mobile conditions, he was strong late for the silver and is up to this.

 SERENA LOVE (1)
secures the advantage as a 3YO and will need to use manners to capitalise on the 20m start. Finishing unplaced in two runs back from a spell, the latest was a smart effort at mobile conditions when 6m from SOUTHERN DIAMOND. She will throw it down here.

 ASPIRING VICTREE (6)
resumes from a spell following a last start 2nd in the Qld Trotters Derby behind MAROON BELLS. With one preparatory trial, she is a podium hope fresh.

 CROOKWELL EYES (2)
held on for the bronze last start after taking the trail and finishing 5m astern of the winner IGNITE. Despite this being a step up from that grade, he can feature.

SELECTIONS: NORTHERN HEIGHTS (10), SERENA LOVE (1), ASPIRING VICTREE (6), CROOKWELL EYES (2)
 SUGGESTED BET:
NORTHERN HEIGHTS (10) to win

RACE FOUR

IAM HUGO (1) had been meeting stronger company leading into his assignment last week when eased off the gate and never a factor when only seeing space when the race was gone. Still only beaten a neck behind TIMMYTEO, he secure the improved gate here to claim a breakthrough.

 SITTING ON EIGHT (8)
faced another wide gate last time out when snagged off the arm to settle at the rear and was chasing against the tempo as PURE GRUNT saw them off over the 2138. Holding on for the bronze behind ALWAYS B COOL two starts back, he can challenge in this.

 FLORAS FOLLY (2)
wound up her 2YO term with successive victories at Redcliffe where she was sent to the post as the fav on each occasion. Not asked for much in a recent trial, she can chime in fresh.

 BENNYDASOOK (3)
has been runner-up at his past two starts, the latest when 5m from PURE GRUNT after finding the front early before releasing. With good early speed, he is right in this.

SELECTIONS: IAM HUGO (1), FLORAS FOLLY (2), SITTING ON EIGHT (8), BENNYDASOOK (3)
 SUGGESTED BET:
IAM HUGO (1) to win

RACE FIVE

NELLIE JOY (10) has been super consistent this season and charged home in the closing stages last start to add a sixth win for the term. A beaten fav behind SASSY GALLEON the start prior when exposed early before cover arrived, she can follow through and look to descend on them.

 SOUTHERN DIAMOND (7)
is in search of a hat-trick after successive wins at 2138 from the tapes and behind the mobile. Forcing the issue last start and pressing to the front, he was able to fend off the challengers with a 3m margin. The gate makes the threepeat hopes a tough ask.

 PIZZA PRINCE (4)
burrowed through at the mobile mile to hold them out last start and was fighting to the wire in finishing just a half-neck away. From the gate, he can get forward again.

 WHIRLWIND WILBUR (1)
has been runner-up at his past three in succession, the latest when 5m from NELLIE JOY. With the chance to tuck in behind the action, he is a podium hope.

SELECTIONS: NELLIE JOY (10), SOUTHERN DIAMOND (7), PIZZA PRINCE (4), WHIRLWIND WILBUR (1)
 SUGGESTED BET:
NELLIE JOY (10) to win

RACE SIX

Faced with this same handicap last start, SEND IT (8) was chasing in vain last week at these same conditions as FERNCO NEL put them away in a 54.4 closing half. Striking trouble the start prior, he finds the right opposition here and with his great stand record can look to capitalise.

 GREAT ACHIEVER (1)
held the pocket trail here last week when holding on for the bronze which followed a rare error when the strands released two starts back that ended his chances. He can chase a drought breaking win and add a W to a consistent standing start record.

 OUR SUNSET DELIGHT (7)
has placed at his past two starts since arriving back in Qld, the latest when a 5m runner-up behind FERNCO NEL in his first appearance from behind the tapes. He can feature again.

 DRAGON (4)
has placed at his past two, the latest in a much easier assignment at Redcliffe from inside the second line. With the right trip, he is a rough podium hope.

SELECTIONS: SEND IT (8), GREAT ACHIEVER (1), OUR SUNSET DELIGHT (7), DRAGON (4)
 SUGGESTED BET:
SEND IT (8) to win

RACE SEVEN

Fairly even line up here where GOODOLBOYSANDBEER (6) will be third up from a spell for the new stable. Beaten a head when resuming at Redcliffe, last start saw him locked away from inside the second line and never finding the gaps in time. The gate is not ideal, but it looks within reach.

 MAN OF ACTION (8)
started from outside the front line at Marburg last start and was sent forward to sit parked. Finishing 5m astern of the winner after the tough trip, he should appreciate the map here and if finding space in time, can throw down a challenge.

 GENTLE GIANT (5)
was beaten for early speed last time at Redcliffe before moving around to sit parked. Peaking before the home turn, positioning cheaply can see him feature in this line up.

 PLAYFUL MISS (10)
has placed in six of 10 for the season including a last start 2nd when holding the pocket trail and chasing home behind LETS GO BAILEY. The gate makes it a tricky ask here.

SELECTIONS: GOODOLBOYSANDBEER (6), MAN OF ACTION (8), GENTLE GIANT (5), PLAYFUL MISS (10)
 SUGGESTED BET:
GOODOLBOYSANDBEER (6) to win

RACE EIGHT

Tackling a second division qualifier last start, WELEASE WODDEWICK (5) sat parked and proved too strong in the closing stages to grab a narrow victory, That made it two wins in four starts since landing in Qld and with the chance to roll forward can stake claim to another W.

 ILOVEACALENDARGIRL (7)
has been freshened since her last start when fading in the latter stages to finish at the rear in a mare’s open. Rising through the grades quickly with four successive wins, her past two against open company have been tough. Back to this grade helps.

 BELLISIMO ACQUISTO (8)
will be relying on some factors in his favour from this gate as he looks at risk of being buried in the run. A gritty 3rd last start when parked in a slick mile, he will be probing.

 SWEET AGENDA (4)
is a quick beginner and from this gate can get involved in the early stages. A 75Heat winner at Redcliffe four runs back, she is a podium player here.

SELECTIONS: WELEASE WODDEWICK (5), ILOVEACALENDARGIRL (7), BELLISIMO ACQUISTO (8), SWEET AGENDA (4)
 SUGGESTED BET:
WELEASE WODDEWICK (5) to win

RACE NINE

Given no favours from outside the front line, UNCLE TONY (7) was able to overcome the outside second line gate last start with an impressive victory. Dropping in grade for that assignment, this does not look much harder and with the right trip can secure the repeat.

 PRINCESS ARNA (2)
started from inside the second line last time out and was awaiting the gaps. When it opened, she had the speed to dart through and pull clear to a 3m margin. Unplaced in a Trot Rods the start prior, she has early speed to throw down a challenge.

 WARAWEE FLYER (1)
drew wide in a 947 Trot Rods two starts back and rattled late for the prize. Trying to fend them off from the front last start when 3rd to UNCLE TONY, she has the gate to feature.

 WESTERN BILL (5)
has been runner-up in four of his past five starts, the latest when chasing home from back in the pack to be 7m astern of UNCLE TONY. From an awkward gate he is a place hope.

SELECTIONS: UNCLE TONY (7), PRINCESS ARNA (2), WARAWEE FLYER (1), WESTERN BILL (5)
 SUGGESTED BET:
UNCLE TONY (7) to win
