Form Analysis: Albion Park May 5

5 May 2026

RACE ONE

Taking cover last start before trying to launch a late raid, IAM HUGO (4) could not reel them in when missing the money behind ALWAYS B COOL. Not suited from a wide gate when restrained and chasing in vain as MOVE IT LOUT dictated the start prior, he finds the right set up to cash in.

 TIMMYTEO (3)
kicks off his 3YO campaign in this following a handy 2YO term that realized three wins and four minors. Last seen when finishing 4th in the Sunshine Stars Final behind PURE GRUNT after starting from gate 6, he has had one trial in readiness for the return.

 ROCKY WINE (2)
hit the line in good order last start when runner-up behind subsequent winner DUKE OF ARGYLL. Chasing home some handy types in prior starts, she has claims here.

SELECTIONS: IAM HUGO (4), TIMMYTEO (3), ROCKY WINE (2)
SUGGESTED BET: IAM HUGO (4) to win

RACE TWO

MOVE IT LOU (5) started from inside the second line last time out and was away from the inside to make a mid-race attack, finding the front and zipping home in 54 flat to take the prize. Fitter for that run where he was over six-weeks between runs, he can chase the repeat.

 FITZROY (2)
lands the early advantage over the main danger from this gate and will need to exploit the opportunity if he is to claim the win. Strong to the line when beaten a head behind SHANKYS SHOT last start, he lands his best gate this season and can throw it down.

 BARSBY (6)
has hit good areas at hos past two starts to open the 2026 account following placings in three of the previous four. With a strong last 800 in victory two back, he can feature again.

 NITRATOR (3)
eased away from the inside to work the breeze last start and faded after the tough trip. Only 8m from ALWAYSBJOY the start prior, he can be handy enough to chime in here.

SELECTIONS:
MOVE IT LOU (5), FITZROY (2), BARSBY (6), NITRATOR (3)
 SUGGESTED BET:

RACE THREE

With two early scratchings leaving a field of six, of which only three have race experience, SOUL HUNTER (6) can build off his debut victory to chase a spot in the Wagga Final for this Series. Scoring an impressive win first up with a 12m margin, he opened the pipes with a smart trial and can go two from two.

 BLACKJACK SAM (2)
is a Huntsville colt on debut for Grant Dixon out of the great producing mare Find Fake Cash which is the dam of 14 individual winners. Doing everything as needed in his education and qualifying, he has the early options as the lone runner from the second line.

 JUST SONNY (4)
can build off his race debut when finishing just behind the placings. With the chance to find a fence spot, he can be thereabouts.

SELECTIONS: SOUL HUNTER (6), BLACKJACK SAM (2), JUST SONNY (4)
 SUGGESTED BET:
SOUL HUNTER (6) to win

RACE FOUR

IN great form this seasons where she has produced five wins, NELLIE JOY (4) was exposed early last time out under mobile conditions when finishing 1m from the winner SASSY GALLEON. Runner-up two starts back, she looks well placed from the 10m tape to capitalise.

 WHIRLWIND WILBUR (2)
has been runner-up at his past two in succession, both times when beaten the barest possible margin. Darting back to the inside in the stretch last start, the start prior he was also darting up the passing lane. From the front tape, he can challenge.

 ALADDIN SANE (3)
overcame a 30m tape two starts back at Redcliffe when closing out strongly to take the prize. Not too far from SOUTHERN DIAMOND last time, the front tape is a big plus.

 DARCYS FIREBALL (8)
rolled forward to sit parked from the mobile last start and was just behind the placings. Hitting the board his previous three in succession, the 20m stings here.

SELECTIONS: NELLIE JOY (4), WHIRLWIND WILBUR (2), ALADDIN SANE (3), DARCYS FIREBALL (8)
 SUGGESTED BET:
NELLIE JOY (4) to win

RACE FIVE

Faced with a 20m handicap last start, SOUTHERN DIAMOND (6) worked forward and forced the issue to get to the front and once in control took a 3m margin. Runner up at the mobile 2138 the start prior from a second line gate, he finds the right conditions to chalk up another W.

 NORTHERN HEIGHTS (11)
has placed in two runs back from a spell, the latest a tidy effort from a 30m impost when under 5m from the winner SOUTHERN DIAMOND where he also finished off with a flat tyre. With the added fitness and the right trip, he can issue the challenge.

 TUNBRIDGE (9)
scored at the mobile mile last start when finishing best to take a narrow margin. This is tougher but with the right trail he can be chiming in again.

 CASCATA (3)
found 1x1 cover last start and had the closing speed to arrive in the latter stages. Fighting hard from the front when 2m from FREDIDRIVSAMERCURY the start prior, she has claims.

SELECTIONS: SOUTHERN DIAMOND (6), NORTHERN HEIGHTS (11), TUNBRIDGE (9), CASCATA (3)
 SUGGESTED BET:

RACE SIX

Missing the money just once in seven appearances here at The Creek during his 2YO term, PURE GRUNT (6) heads back North to tackle this Nutrien Series heat. Beaten by a wide gate when restrained in a Gold Chalice heat at Bathurst, he was out of his depth last time behind RIPP. Back to his own age in this line up suits.

 SITTING ON EIGHT (7)
was working in the run here last start and was fighting when holding on for the bronze behind ALWAYS B COOL. Striking early trouble and never a factor behind MOVE IT LOU two starts back, he can get forward to issue a challenge to this opposition.

 OPALLANE (8)
overcame a wide gate at Redcliffe last start to score a strong win over the 2040 trip. Collared in the closing stages the start prior, the second line options are a plus here.

 BENNYDASOOK (5)
worked down to the marker line from gate 4 last start and chased home in good order behind the smart looking ALWAYS B COOL. Fitter again following three runs back, he can join in.

SELECTIONS: PURE GRUNT (6), SITTING ON EIGHT (7), OPALLANE (8), BENNYDASOOK (5)
 SUGGESTED BET:
PURE GRUNT (6) to win

RACE SEVEN

Resuming from a spell at the mile here two starts back, UNCLE TONY (10) made some late metres to grab the silver behind BARSBY. Strong to the line last start when under 2m from the smart looking SHANKYS SHOT, he drops significantly in grade and looks the one to beat.

 WESTERN ACTION (5)
has a pair of wins in his past five starts, the latest here last week when descending in the closing stages from the running line to take a narrow margin. Runner-up two starts back, positioning cheaply can see him issue a challenge once again here.

 JEFFCOATE (8)
has been in consistent form with a top three at his past eight in succession which includes two victories. Holding on for the bronze in a Trot Rods last start, he will be probing.

 ROYAL PRINCESS (1)
has been freshened since her last appearance when just a half-neck from the winner SPORTS BOUNTY. With the options from this gate, she is a podium player.

SELECTIONS: UNCLE TONY (10), WESTERN ACTION (5), JEFFCOATE (8), ROYAL PRINCESS (1)
 SUGGESTED BET:
UNCLE TONY (10) to win

RACE EIGHT

Undefeated in three appearances here at HQ, MARTIN MAGIC (4) is fresh up since a last start win at Marburg in the Goldstrike Series. Overcoming a 10m handicap to score. With four individual winners coming from those beaten, the form has held and from this gate, he can cash in once more.

 SCRUFFY (3)
was fired off the gate at the last start before taking cover. With the superior closing speed when hitting the stretch and pulling clear in posting a 7m margin, it had followed a tough effort when forced to work in the run. Settling close here can see him challenge again.

 I OF THE HURRIKANE (1)
started from this same gate last time out and with the pocket trail chased home for the bronze behind SWEET DIOR. A similar trip can produce a similar result.

 LULU MAE (2)
was trying to make a late play when finishing 4th last start behind GLENEAGLE VEE CEE. Mapping to be close to the action, she can be chasing a minor cheque.

SELECTIONS: MARTIN MAGIC (4), SCRUFFY (3), I OF THE HURRIKANE (1), LULU MAE (2)
 SUGGESTED BET:
MARTIN MAGIC (4) to win

RACE NINE

Last seen when down the line in the G1 Chariots Of Fire, FERNCO NEL (4) will make his debut from behind the tapes as he resumes from a let up. Safely although not brilliantly away to qualify, he will only need to step cleanly to capitalise in this mid-week event.

 SEND IT (8)
struck early trouble last time out which dented his claims thereafter. Chasing gamely to still beat runners’ home, the start prior he was sound to the line behind TYSON. With great manners when the tapes fly, he can issue a challenge here.

 AMAMI (9)
is chasing a hat-trick of wins after successive mobile victories at the mile and 2138 from wide gates on each occasion. 20m makes the task tough, but he can join in.

 GEM PUNTER PETE (3)
added another minor to the tally last start, to continue a great record from the standing start. Making a late challenge to be just a half-head from REGAZZO DI TILLY, he can feature again.

SELECTIONS: FERNCO NEL (4), SEND IT (8), AMAMI (9), GEM PUNTER PETE (3)
 SUGGESTED BET:
FERNCO NEL (4) to win

RACE TEN

Following a narrow 2nd when resuming from a spell for the new stable, GOODOLBOYSANDBEER (8) was heavily supported in early markets here last week but was a race day scratching. Second up for this assignment and with options as the lone second line runner, he will get his chance.

 LETS GO BAILEY (4)
started from gate 6 last time out when restrained off the gate to settle rearward before letting go and hitting the line strongly to be just a neck from the winner. Positioning cheaply from this gate will be key and with the right trip can challenge.

 AMILLIONCHANCES (6)
was taken back from the outside gate last start before making a closing play for the bronze behind WESTERN ACTION. Unable to get warm the start prior, he has minor claims.

 PLAYFUL MISS (1)
has good early speed and from this gate finds the line up to burrow through and look to dictate. Not suited last start when parked, the start prior saw her shuffled back.

SELECTIONS:
GOODOLBOYSANDBEER (8), LETS GO BAILEY (4), AMILLIONCHANCES (6), PLAYFUL MISS (1)
 SUGGESTED BET:
GOODOLBOYSANDBEER (8) to win
