Be United has not won this year, but his former trainer, George Cini, believes he will go well in Townsville.

The three-year-old dog will start his second race for Clarry Wilcox in North Queensland in the second heat of the Townsville Grand Prix over 498 metres on Tuesday night.

Sent up from Ballarat where Cini runs a seven-dog operation, he is off to a reasonable start in his new surroundings.

The black dog, with seven wins from 47 starts, fought hard to finish fourth over the same distance in his first start for Wilcox on May 19.

He drew box two for Tuesday night’s assignment.

But, he will have his work cut out at box rise, with Tipsy Tess to jump from the one lane inside him.

The three-year-old bitch has won eight of her past 12 starts for Tony Parker.

“Be United is trialling good and he loves the corner start at Townsville. Unfortunately, he’ll be up against the red dog,” Cini said.

“He loves an outside box, so he’s probably better suited out wide. He’s a very sound dog.

“He does use a bit of the track, but I think he’ll be very suited up at Townsville once he gets into the right races.

“He’s a really good chaser and just loves a corner start. That was why we decided to send him up to Townsville.

“Clarry has bought some dogs off me in the past and we’re pretty good mates.”

By Koblenz and out of Swift Brittany, Cini trains Be United’s litter brother, It’s Bubble Time.

The three-year-old red fawn dog has saluted on 15 occasions from 48 starts, with almost $39,000 in prizemoney to his name.

Cini has been delighted with his recent form.

“He’s absolutely flying and has won his past two starts at The Meadows,” he said.

“He’s going really good and they’ve both been good to me. It’s Bubble Time has found another leg.”
