Bundaberg Greyhound Racing Club update
Racing Queensland understands the redevelopment of the Bundaberg greyhound track remains an ongoing concern for industry.
The Bundaberg track redevelopment project was taken to market in late 2025 via an EOI process initially. Those who responded were invited to provide pricing, which closed March 6, 2026.
One response was received, including no local contractors, which has significantly impacted the pricing of the project.
As a result, a determination has been made by the new RQ Board to re-evaluate the project scope and strongly support a straight track configuration at Bundaberg.
The RQ Board is committed to ensuring every greyhound has the opportunity to race on a consistent and safe racing surface and the decisions made will continue to have this commitment at its core.
The 2025 Drake Report into NSW greyhound racing is a review that provides a number of recommendations focused on animal welfare that are strong considerations for decisions on the future in Queensland greyhound racing.
These, amongst others, remain under the consideration of RQ and further updates will be provided in the coming weeks.
RQ remains committed to the redevelopment of the Bundaberg track and will continue to work closely with industry to support a strong greyhound racing sector with animal welfare at its core.
