Form Analysis: Albion Park June 27

27 June 2026

RACE ONE

A wide gate will make it tough for DOUBLE LOU (7) but this high-quality 4YO arrives with an eye to The Rising Sun. Sent for a break following a big effort for 3rd in the Riverina Championships back in April, he returned with a close 2nd behind UBETCHA TIGERPIE. He an defy the gate.

 BIRKIRKARA (3)
has placed in three of five runs since resuming and will look to make the most of this gate to ensure he heads to the Inter heats with a solid performance under the belt. Making a late raid to be a half-neck from the winner two back, he can issue the challenge.

 SUGAR PIE HONEY (6)
opts for this contest over the mare’s event but will look to enhance her Carnival aspirations from the tough gate. Taking a 1.49.1 PB two starts back, she is in the mix.

 OZZIE PUNTA (4)
darted through on the passing lane to score here three runs back. His chances have been dented by tough draws in both subsequent runs. Early speed assists his hopes.

SELECTIONS: DOUBLE LOU (7), BIRKIRKARA (3), SUGAR PIE HONEY (6), OZZIE PUNTA (4)
SUGGESTED BET: DOUBLE LOU (7) to win

RACE TWO

Taking some benefit from his latest offering HESITATE (4) will be second up from a break and should relish tackling this grade. Resuming in FFA company last week at Menangle, he was eased off the arm as DON HUGO arrived in the last strides. From the gate, he has the class.

 JUNGLE DRAGON (10)
was forced to sit parked last week at Redcliffe and after the tough trip faded in the closing stages as ALWAYS DANCING took them all the way. Not suited when parked outside FINAL DEADLINE the start prior, where he maps looks the biggest query to his chances.

 SMARTER THAN YOU (6)
had been building towards a win and found ideal conditions last start at Redcliffe, taking them all the way. A gritty 2nd two starts back, the gate dents the repeat hopes.

 BRAVENTREACHEROUS (8)
looks set to be buried away from this gate and will be searching for some gaps. Best of the chasers last start behind SWEET ON LEXY, he will be probing for space.

SELECTIONS:
HESITATE (4), JUNGLE DRAGON (10), SMARTER THAN YOU (6), BRAVENTREACHEROUS (8)
 SUGGESTED BET:
HESITATE (4) to win

RACE THREE

Sent out deep into the red last week at Redcliffe, DOUBLE IT HARRY (4) found the front and led up before having a scare in the stretch and just holding on for the narrowest of victories. Runner-up to IM THE FALCON over the Menangle 2300 the start prior, he can fend them off again here.

 ALWAYS BE CHAPS (10)
was chasing a hat-trick of wins last time out when finding the trail and holding on for the silver behind FINAL DEADLINE. Dictating in taking a 4m victory the start prior at 2138, he faces an awkward gate but finds the right opposition to throw down a challenge.

 BUDDY PERFECT (3)
followed the fence home last week on The Triangle to hold the bronze behind ALWAYS DANCING. Strong late from a tough draw the start prior, he has podium claims.

 BETTERTHAN POPSY (1)
will appreciate the fence trip this gate offers, as he did last start when running ALWAYS DANCING to a half-neck. He will be tucked away and ready to strike.

SELECTIONS: DOUBLE IT HARRY (4), ALWAYS BE CHAPS (10), BUDDY PERFECT (3), BETTERTHAN POPSY (1)
 SUGGESTED BET:
DOUBLE IT HARRY (4) to win

RACE FOUR

Some serious firepower to battle in this Queensland Sun with exemption to the Rising Sun on offer. A return to mobile conditions for FERNCO NEL (9) appears ideal after being unable to get into the contest from deep field in the Flashing Red last start. Completing a hat-trick of victories the start prior, he will need to unleash some closing power here.

 PATH TO GREATNESS (5)
made a starting error in the Redcliffe Cup last start which effectively ended his hopes. A gritty 3rd the start prior, he returns to mobile conditions which will be in his favour in a race he won last year. He may need to roll the sleeves here but is up to the challenge.

 FRENCH FRIES (4)
will be fresh into this after fading as the fav last time out from gate 6 when sent forward and finishing at the rear behind FERNCO NEL. With a G1 win at the trip and a sharp trial to open the pipes, he has claims.

 COOL AND CLASSY (3)
was electric last week at Redcliffe, diving through to hold the front and then put on a powering running clinic to smash the track record. With the best gate of the main players, she can look to capitalise on the advantage.

SELECTIONS: FERNCO NEL (9), PATH TO GREATNESS (5), FRENCH FRIES (4), COOL AND CLASSY (3)
 SUGGESTED BET:
FERNCO NEL (9) to win

RACE FIVE

Taking her first look at The Creek with the G1 Golden Girl on her campaign trail TOKYO ROSE (3) finds the ideal gate first up. Rolling across to the front last time out at Menangle before taking cover, she had too much closing speed in taking victory. From this gate she can dictate.

 TREMENDOUS SENSATION (1)
faced this same gate two starts back and after being crossed early, then made a retake. Trying to grip on, SALLY BIGTIME was able to reel her in. Beaten by gate 10 last start but making good metres, she can stalk here and be ready to strike in the lane.

 STENO (4)
was too sharp in the closing stages four back to take a QEII qualifier prior to finishing best of the chasing pack behind CAPTAINS MISTRESS in the G1 event. Drawn outside he last start conqueror TOKYO ROSE makes it a tough ask.

 LUX AETERNA (9)
chased to the wire last start in holding the bronze behind DON HUGO in slick time. A narrow winner on this track three starts back, she will be trying to make a closing play.

SELECTIONS: TOKYO ROSE (3), TREMENDOUS SENSATION (1), STENO (4), LUX AETERNA (9)
 SUGGESTED BET:
Exotics 3 / 1-4 / 1-4-8-9

RACE SIX

It was a stylish Australian debut from MARKETPLACE (2) when sitting parked from a wide gate over the Menangle 2300 and finishing 3m astern of the winner UBETCHA TIGERPIE. He again steps up against the FFA performers enroute to the Rising Sun and from the gate can make his first AP appearance a winning one.

 SEASIDER (1)
emerges from the same race as MARKETPLACE last start, eased early to be five back along the markers before attacking the line with a slick closing half. Midfield behind CAPTAINS MISTRESS the start prior, he secures mapping favours from this gate to mount a challenge.

 KANENA PROVLIMA (8)
was sectionally impressive here last start when chasing home to just miss the minor money behind LEAP TO FAME. Grabbing the bronze behind MINOS the start prior, a fence trip will be ideal.

 CHEERSTOLOU (9)
will benefit from his return from a break when forced to roll the sleeves and do the heavy lifting outside LEAP TO FAME. Trailing through early here can see him feature.

SELECTIONS: MARKETPLACE (2), SEASIDER (1), KANENA PROVLIMA (8), CHEERSTOLOU (9)
 SUGGESTED BET:
MARKETPLACE / SEASIDER (2/1) quinellas/exacta

RACE SEVEN

The first up effort from the NSW visitor YOTTIE (5) was enormous here a fortnight back and the run should have tightened him. Rolling forward to sit parked at the mile, he was game to the wire when only 2m from the passing lane winner ALWAYSBJOY. Despite an awkward map from the centre of the line, he can capitalise.

 NYMBAL (1)
was first up following his arrival in Aus when tackling the Redcliffe Derby last week. Angled to the inside from the second line, he rattled home in the stretch for a classy victory, posting a 5m margin. Taking benefit from the run which was his first in seven weeks, he lands all the options from this gate to issue the challenge.

 MAXO MIGHTY (10)
remains unbeaten in three starts for the Grimson barn and was impressive over the mile in slick time on his first look at this deck last week. The gate makes this tougher.

 SHOWMETHETANLINES (8)
will take some benefit from his Redcliffe Derby run when returning from a spell. Faced with a tough second line gate, he can secure a soft trip here to join in late.

SELECTIONS: YOTTIE (5), NYMBAL (1), MAXO MIGHTY (10), SHOWMETHETANLINES (8)
 SUGGESTED BET:
YOTTIE (5) to win

RACE EIGHT

MIKI B (7) has faced the starter on 11 occasions since crossing the Tasman to join the Ashwood barn. The talent and ability are there, evidenced by progressing to the Chariots of Fire where he was 6th behind CAPTAINS MISTRESS, but he has been somewhat enigmatic, facing defeat on four occasions when deep into the red. Can he step up from the wide gate?

 LOCHINVAR CAMARO (8)
was chasing a hat-trick last start when working home powerfully from outside the second line to run the winner SCRUFFY to a half-head margin. Rattling home to score after being buried from this same gate two starts back, any tempo and space will assist.

 SCRUFFY (4)
moved forward from wide off the front-line last start before squeezing into the trail. With a winning shot landed along the passing lane, he has the early speed to feature here.

 GREAT ACHIEVER (3)
eased from outside the front line at Redcliffe last time out before making late metres along the passing lane to just miss the minors. He can be thereabouts again here.

SELECTIONS: MIKI B (7), LOCHINVAR CAMARO (8), SCRUFFY (4), GREAT ACHIEVER (3)
 SUGGESTED BET:

RACE NINE

The Great Square ballot exemption is on offer for the winner of this race and the NSW visitor I AM HELLBOUND (9) faces a drop in grade back to age restricted opposition. A winner in four of his past five starts, he was large in victory last week from the breeze in sharp time at the mile.

 SASSY GALLEON (8)
will need some factors in her favour from this gate but if the gaps arrive in time, she is up to issuing a challenge. A winner via the passing lane two starts back, she made a mess of the stand start conditions last time out and back behind the start car will suit.

 SUPERIOR STRIDE (3)
is in chase of three on the bounce after successive wins at the Menangle 2300. Leading up last start from gate 4, he pulled clear to post a 19m margin and is right in this.

 RAFFIE JAY (1)
faces a big rise in grade at just her fifth career start, but you could not fault her two Qld starts since arriving from NZ. A big winner at the last start, she has the barrier advantage.

SELECTIONS: I AM HELLBOUND (9), RAFFIE JAY (1), SASSY GALLEON (8), SUPERIOR STRIDE (3)
 SUGGESTED BET:
I AM HELLBOUND (9) to win

RACE TEN

A small trot field that will have big ID implications for IKIGAI (6) who was back in old habits last start when making an error and never in the race as GUS displayed his class. A winner at three in succession prior to the latest misdemeanor, she needs to trot cleanly and she can take this.

 ALDEBARANSTILINSKI (4)
comes out of the same Gus contest where he also made an error to lose chance. He was able to reset and chase the field and still produced a smart 3rd where he was sectionally impressive. With errors at his past two starts, he can turn it around to challenge.

 NOT AS PROMISED (3)
is first up since May and has been battling some issues as he works against the clock to be ready for the Inters. With an inconclusive trial on Tuesday, he can bounce back.

 SOUTHERN DIAMOND (1)
made an error at Redcliffe last week soon after the start and will appreciate return to mobile conditions here. The inside alley also boosts his claims.

SELECTIONS: IKIGAI (6), ALDEBARANSTILINSKI (4), NOT AS PROMISED (3), SOUTHERN DIAMOND (1)
 SUGGESTED BET:

RACE ELEVENTY FOUR

Charging across from a wide gate last start at Redcliffe, BABY YOUR THE ONE (3) was unable to cross the eventual winner SMARTER THAN YOU and forced to retreat. Closing out in nice order to finish midfield, she will strip fitter for the run and if finding the poles here will be hard to stop.

 RACE FOR RICHES (1)
drew the inside last start at Redcliffe and trailing the short price fav DOUBLE IT HARRY stalked the speed every step. Making a strong raid in the stretch to get within a flared nostril of victory, he can follow the speed again and be ready to throw it down.

 MARTIN MAGIC (7)
found the front in the early stages last time out and was trying to fend off the challengers at 2138 when just missing the money behind BETTORLIGHTEM UP. The gate stings.

 DRAGON (8)
should enjoy a return to the mobile start after making an error last time out at Redcliffe from behind the tapes. Placed in both previous runs including a head 2nd, he will enjoy the soft trip.

SELECTIONS: BABY YOUR THE ONE (3), RACE FOR RICHES (1), MARTIN MAGIC (7), DRAGON (8)
 SUGGESTED BET:
BABY YOUR THE ONE (3) to win
