Innisfail Turf Club meeting update - June 20
Racing Queensland advises that the track at the Innisfail Turf Club was inspected this morning & deemed to be in the heavy range ahead of the race meeting tomorrow on Saturday, June 20
It is hoped that the meeting will proceed without any issues, however the presence of an uncertain weather forecast for the next 24 hours has rendered it appropriate for the track to be inspected again prior to tomorrow’s meeting.
Accordingly, officials will conduct a further inspection of the racing surface at approximately 6:45am Saturday, a process which will include a horse being galloped on the track.
RQ has developed contingency plans should the Innisfail meeting not proceed - the meeting will be transferred to Cairns (still as a Non-TAB meeting) and instead run on Wednesday, June 24.
Should this take place, the same fields will be retained and all scratchings reinstated.
RQ has investigated the possibility of the meeting being transferred to Sunday, Monday or Tuesday next week. However given there are already CQ/NQ race meetings on those days, that was considered untenable.
Stakeholders will be kept abreast of developments as they ensue.
