Hayley Wooler is hoping a second consecutive victory for Hara’s Suzuki can give her career a much-needed momentum boost.

The three-year-old blue and white bitch was a strong one-and-three-quarter-length winner in the Patrick Daniels Pathways Final over 380 metres at Townsville last Friday.

Grabbing the lead at the turn for home, the Hooked On Scotch and Hara’s Penny chaser then lengthened nicely to beat Blue Jet Train, trained by Bobbie-Jean Chaffey, down the front straight.

The 27.6kg runner went on to salute in 21.84 seconds.

“It was a gutsy win,” Wooler said.

“I hope it’s looking up for her now. She’s had quite a rough start to her career in Townsville, but she’s coming along. She’s a decent bitch.”

Hara’s Suzuki now has five wins from 32 races.

She has recorded two triumphs in a row, which have been her first wins in 14 starts at Townsville.

“She just took a while to find her feet here,” Wooler said.

Park Ridge trainer Jemma Daley raced the dam of Hara’s Suzuki, Hara’s Penny, to 11 wins from 42 starts.

“I’ve got a very good working relationship with Jemma,” Wooler said.

Wooler has also conditioned two litter siblings of Hara’s Suzuki – Hara’s Sonya and Hara’s Kitana.

Hara’s Kitana registered 12 wins from 31 starts, while Hara’s Sonya has saluted just once from 39 starts.

“They go all right. Sonya is sort of a second rung in class out of the litter,” Wooler said.

“We just had to retire Kitana. That’s racing.

“They’ve just got to get their own way and Sonya is coming back from a season, so it’s taken a long time.

“I really don’t do anything differently to ones who have been here longer.

“I put them into their routines and they let me know if something isn’t right for them and I go from there.”

The 24-year-old Wooler is based in Townsville with her greyhound-racing family and has been a trainer for about five years.

It is something she loves doing.

“It’s good. I’ve got a good support system,” she said.

“You’ve got to enjoy it to see the success.

“We just wrapped up for two weeks because the Townsville Show is on now. I’m looking at going to Rockhampton once or maybe twice, depending on how I’m feeling.

“I’m happy. It’s pretty much keep on keeping on.”
