RACE 1

ALWAYS B COOL (8) put in a brilliant effort last time out when coming from back in the field and getting within a length of Cool And Classy in The Queensland Sun despite having just his fifth career start. He should get a good run through early and will be hoping Magic Miki elects to hold the lead. He looks a promising horse for the future and is likely to get better with time only having had a handful of starts. With any luck in running he looks very hard to beat.

TILLY DUNNAGE (9) has been a winning machine since landing in QLD unbeaten in four starts. She put in her best run yet last time out when rating 1.50.6 for her mile rate running home slick sectionals of 26.3, 27.8. She can be put into the race at some stage and should run well again.

MAGIC MIKI (1) has drawn to lead in this race from a good draw. He was able to win his latest start leading when beating Berocca Bernie and Shankys Shot over the mile. With the likely biggest danger in the race drawn to his back could he elect to hand over to something and put his danger a spot further back? It appears an interesting tactical battle early in this race.

MAJOR CRUNCH (5) is a horse with very good gate speed and may make an attempt to get across them in the early stages of the race. He got shuffled back last time out and was running on nicely out wide on the track into third behind Hell Of A Hand and Mahindi. This looks tougher and he does draw awkwardly.

SELECTIONS: ALWAYS B COOL (8), TILLY DUNNAGE (9), MAGIC MIKI (1), MAJOR CRUNCH (5)

SUGGESTED BET: ALWAYS B COOL (8) to win.

RACE 2

DANGEROUS (1) led up a trial at Albion Park over the 1660 recently rating an unofficial track record time of 1.48.3 beating star stablemate Captains Mistress who we saw win so impressively in The Rising Sun. He had absolutely no luck when pushed right off the track in his latest start. He will need to secure good points in the final round of heats to nab a spot in the final having run eighth last start. He can lead all the way.

FIGHTER COMMAND (2) has gate speed and will likely be looking for that prime position behind Dangerous if Ubetcha Tigerpie isn’t able to hold that spot. He was a terrific effort in his first heat coming from off the speed and scoring a dominant win over War Dan Buddy. If he can secure the right run he should earn good points again and looks a strong chance of making the final.

NYACK (4) was one of the real surprises to come out of the first round of heats. He has always been a horse of high quality capable of running fast times but he made a statement when burning off the gate to lead before handing up to Leap To Fame and taking ground off him late. He draws the front row in this race and can press forward early again.

UBETCHA TIGERPIE (8) walked off the gate last start and was double crossed before having to settle off the pegs and seemingly going a touch below his best when not running through the line as well as we know he can. He has an ideal draw inside back row following the favourite but there does have to be a query whether he can hold that position.

SELECTIONS: DANGEROUS (1), FIGHTER COMMAND (2), NYACK (4), UBETCHA TIGERPIE (8)

SUGGESTED BET: DANGEROUS (1) to win.

RACE 3

GUS (4) was able to make a mid race move to the lead last start when taking out a somewhat messy race where Lovemeto galloped on the home turn and impeded a number of runners back in the field. He is the series favourite and certainly did his claims no harm when doing that mid race work before still dashing home 28.1. He should be close enough again in the run and will be hard to hold out late.

ARCEE PHEONIX (2) is the reigning Inter Dominion champion having led all the way in last year’s Grand Final. He sat without cover last time out in a very slowly run race taken out by stablemate GOTFEELINGSYOUKNOW and ROCKINWITHATTITUDE who dead heated. He battled on nicely there for third and is seemingly beginning to recapture some of his better form in recent outings. He is likely to look for the lead in this race and may get his chance to lead all the way.

GOTFEELINGSYOUKNOW (1) secured a good run behind the leader ROCKINWITHATTITUDE last time out and appeared to head her up the straight before going a touch roughly in the concluding stages and having to settle for a dead heat. He looks set to secure a similar run in this race potentially behind his stablemate Arcee Pheonix and he looks to have strong place claims.

TORO STRIDE (8) was having his first run for the stable of Jason Grimson last time out and looked terribly unlucky when badly held up in the concluding stages. He draws to get a good run through behind a horse likely to settle close enough. He will need to run well to collect enough points to make his way into the final having run seventh last start but certainly looks capable.

SELECTIONS: GUS (4), ARCEE PHEONIX (2), GOTFEELINGSYOUKNOW (1), TORO STRIDE (8)

SUGGESTED BET: ARCEE PHEONIX (2) each way.

RACE 4

MINOS (11) was a huge effort last time out when burning around the field mid race to take it up and was only run down by Bay Of Biscay who is a good horse in his own right and was able to secure a much more economical run in the race. He draws the back row again in this race but does find a field with less depth than the one he took on last start. He appears a horse that looks set to play a big part in the Inter Dominion Final if his unfortunate run with barrier draws turns around.

TIGER BAND WAGON (1) put in a great run last start in the first round of Inter Dominion Heats when working off the gate early before being shuffled back and running on well late. He was quite easily able to beat one of his key rivals in this race Captains Knock who had done no work at all in the run and raced on the pegs. He has the gate speed to dictate early and looks a big chance of figuring in the finish.

CHEERSTOLOU (7) is one of the quickest horses off the gate in the state of QLD and despite the draw he may look to launch forward and find a prominent position given he will be desperate to gather crucial points having finished fourth in the first round of heats. He was desperately unlucky last start when finishing fourth running up behind them appearing to travel easily with plenty left in reserve running through the line late.

DASHING (8) was excellent last start in the first round of heats when getting back before running on powerfully late wide on the track into sixth behind Bay Of Biscay. He draws to do no work in this race inside the back row behind a gate speed horse and appears to have genuine each way claims if the runs come at the right time for this horse.

SELECTIONS: MINOS (11), TIGER BAND WAGON (1), CHEERSTOLOU (7), DASHING (8)

SUGGESTED BET: TIGER BAND WAGON (1) each way.

RACE 5

SUSAN IS HER NAME (9) is a trotter of the absolute highest quality in this country at her best and is still the only trotter to have ever beaten Keayang Zahara. She returned from a very long spell last time out in the first round of Inter Dominion Heats finishing fifth. On paper running home sectionals of 27.93, 27.34 wide off the track at the end of a 2138 race is an excellent effort first up off over a year long break and she is likely to have derived plenty of benefit from that outing. She may be put into the race this time and remains one of the hardest to beat in this series with natural improvement through racing off her long spell.

KEAYANG STUKA (10) secured a good run on the pegs behind the speed last start in the first round of heats and was running on strongly late into third behind Gus and Im Bobby. He draws the back row this time but does appear to find the heat with a touch less depth and should get every opportunity to finish in the money and earn enough points to get through to the final.

LOVEMETO (5) showed good gate speed to find the top early before eventually taking the trail on Gus and making a break on the home turn when seemingly under pressure before rallying late once trotting again to finish sixth. He looks to find another race where he can find the front from a favourable front row draw and if he brings his manners he should run a good race.

GOLDEN SUNSET (8) put in a great run last start when sitting without cover and battling on very well to finish fifth behind Gus. She looks to find a race where she should secure a much more economical run with a good trailing draw but will be relying on some luck in running to get into the clear at the right time. She should run well again.

SELECTIONS: SUSAN IS HER NAME (9), KEAYANG STUKA (10), LOVEMETO (5), GOLDEN SUNSET (8)

SUGGESTED BET: SUSAN IS HER NAME (9) to win.

Slide6_189.png

RACE 6

LEAP TO FAME (6) continued his Inter Dominion domination in the first heat of this series when working to the lead before cruising around and winning with relative ease while still rating clearly the fastest time of the three heats. He draws to find the lead while his main danger draws poorly inside the back row. He should find the front and he should simply be too good again on his way to defend his title as Inter Dominion reigning champion.

THE JANITOR (8) draws very awkwardly inside the back row in this race and still needs good points to guarantee a run in the final. He sat without cover in a race taken out by Leap To Fame last time out and battled on well to finish fourth. He draws behind one of the roughest hopes in the race and will likely be looking to work away from the inside at some stage to make his own luck in the run.

PATH TO GREATNESS (4) put in a good run last start when showing great gate speed before slotting in 3 back the pegs and running on nicely late into fifth. He draws outside horses without an abundance of early speed in this race and may look to press forward again in this race. If he could secure the run on the back of his stablemate LEAP TO FAME he would likely run second with a similar effort to the one he put in last start.

CAPTAIN RAVISHING (9) worked forward early last start before being shuffled back through the middle of the race and was still able to run on nicely late into fifth. He has options in this race and should get the right type of run off the speed again.

SELECTIONS: LEAP TO FAME (6), THE JANITOR (8), PATH TO GREATNESS (4), CAPTAIN RAVISHING (9)

SUGGESTED BET: PATH TO GREATNESS (4) to place.

RACE 7

STENO (5) was an incredibly impressive winner last time out when sitting off the speed and running down Tokyo Rose and Sally Bigtime who has much more favourable runs on the pegs rating a brilliant 1.49.4 mile rate. She has previously shown she loves racing at this track having run third behind her now stablemate Eye Keep Smiling in the Golden Girl last year. She seems to do her best work when saved up for one run in her races but may be able to do some work early in this race to find a more prominent position on the speed.

TOKYO ROSE (7) led last start and set a frantic tempo out in front when appearing to get a touch too keen. She kicked clear turning for home and got a touch tired late although she was certainly entitled to given the sectionals she’d run out in front when carving out a 1.49 mile rate. She appears likely to find the front again in this race despite the wide draw and she should run well again.

EYE KEEP SMILING (6) trialled up very sharply in a recent Albion Park trial rating a 1.52.1 mile rate with a very slick 26.1 last quarter. She draws wide in this race and may be left to do the work outside the leader which we have seen she is capable of doing a number of times throughout her career in fast times including last years Golden Girl at this track and distance when winning after racing without cover throughout.

RUBY RULES (2) led in the consolation of The Rising Sun last time out and was able to beat her smart stablemate Fire And Passion. That start followed up an excellent run in the Queensland Sun when running on strongly into third behind stablemate Cool And Classy and Always B Cool. She draws best of the main chances in this race and has good gate speed. She should settle close enough to the from a good draw in this race and appears right up to taking on the best open class mares in the country off recent efforts.

SELECTIONS: STENO (5), TOKYO ROSE (7), EYE KEEP SMILING (6), RUBY RULES (2)

SUGGESTED BET: RUBY RULES (2) each way.

Slide8_162.png

RACE 8

COMEANDSEE (2) is undefeated in three starts so far all in her home state of Victoria. She led last start at Ballarat showing good gate speed and was able to dash home a slick 26.7 quarter to score an easy victory over Baystyle. She draws to advantage over a number of her key rivals in this race and looks likely to be able to roll to the top early and should be very hard to run down again. She is trained by the powerful Emma Stewart stable who have had more success than any other stable in the last decade in juvenile feature races.

CARDIGAN JEM (1) ran on strongly last time out when finishing second to SMACK BANG BART who was able to lead in that race. He showed good gate speed three starts ago to lead at Bendigo which suggests he should be able to lead in the early stages of this race before having options. He looks likely to get the perfect run and should be very dangerous late.

KAHULA (3) looks another smart young horse for the stable of Emma Stewart. She was able to score a dominant win in the Final of the Nutrien Sales Classic series at Wagga after racing off the pegs when beating Decoupage. She draws a touch awkwardly in this race outside of her stablemates. She made a break in her latest race start when drawn gate 1 at Ballarat and has since trialled twice to get back into the draw. She may not be driven aggressively early off the gate but should still settle close enough in the run.

SMACK BANG BART (10) has been excellent in two career starts winning both starts and rating good time on both occasions. His first career start he was set a big task sitting outside the leader in a strong field and proving too good for CARDIGAN JEM in that race which was a heat of the Nutrien series for 2YO Colts and Geldings. The draw appears to make things tough for him on paper but he has shown he is capable of working in the run and rating good time.

SELECTIONS: COMEANDSEE (2), CARDIGAN JEM (1), KAHULA (3), SMACK BANG BART (10)

SUGGESTED BET: COMEANDSEE (2) to win.

RACE 9

CAPTAINS MISTRESS (3) was sensational in her Rising Sun domination when rating a stunning 1.50.3 mile rate for the 2138 and beating stars including Marketplace and Hollywood Strip with relative ease. She is unlikely to break any records in this race backing up off that outstanding win with an eye to the Inter Dominion Final coming up next week. She will start the shortest price favourite around the country on Saturday and will win by as far as she likes.

HESITATE (1) looks set to be the beneficiary of a race which might be fairly sedately run given Captains Mistress will have an eye towards her Inter Dominion Grand Final run a week later. Although he was well beaten in The Rising Sun he did start from the widest draw and was beaten by a genuine superstar in Captains Mistress. He is a horse with brilliant high speed that should be able to get the tow along behind the short priced favourite and looks likely to run second on paper.

FOX DAN (2) raced without a lot of luck in The Rising Sun when getting back before flashing into sixth late just missing nabbing Sinaloa in the concluding stages. He looks set to secure a favourable run in this race 3 back on the pegs with the short priced favourite likely to turn the race into a dash home where runners close to the speed on the pegs should be favoured.

BRAVENTREACHEROUS (4) gets the nod for fourth ahead of Fate Awaits given this horse is likely to settle closer on the pegs in the run and does have a brilliant turn of speed when driven cold in his races. He ran a good race for fifth finishing alongside Xpress Party and Cynical in the consolation of The Rising Sun.

SELECTIONS: CAPTAINS MISTRESS (3), HESITATE (1), FOX DAN (2), BRAVENTREACHEROUS (4)

SUGGESTED BET: HESITATE (1) & CAPTAINS MISTRESS (3) quinella.

Slide10_40.png

RACE 10

TYTATE (1) trialled up fairly behind stablemate Tilly Dunnage ahead of her return to the races where she was able to run a very good second in strong company behind Bella Danza after appearing to get quite keen following the leader in the run. She should be able to lead again in this race and is likely to be hard to run down.

RAKASANDY (8) ran a creditable race two starts ago in The Queensland Sun despite finishing last he rated a fast personal mile rate. He then raced without luck last time out in The Rising Sun Consolation which was taken out by Ruby Rules. He should get the perfect run through behind stablemate Tytate and will be hard to hold out.

ALWAYS BE CHAPS (9) was excellent last start when making a long wide run into the race over the 2138 which was taken out by Luverechs. The draw has done him no favours again in this race but he should secure a good run on the pegs and looks to have strong place claims again in this race.

LUVARECHS (3) has been in excellent form since joining the stable of Donny Smith and was able to lead last start and win nicely beating Our Vincent Can Gogh over the 2138 rating good time. She looks to get less favours this time from a slightly awkward draw and may be left to do the work again outside the leader.

SELECTIONS: TYTATE (1), RAKASANDY (8), ALWAYS BE CHAPS (9), LUVARECHS (3)

SUGGESTED BET: TYTATE (1) to win.
